They are doing this because Microsoft is making way for the console relaunch which will come bundled with Natal, at least from what I have read.

They're actually banking pretty big on Natal grabbing the casual audience, and if it goes well, I don't think you will see the next Xbox until around 2012 at the earliest.

ah that answer a lot. Things have calmed a tad about the next gen systems anyways. the Wii is still selling like nuts, the 360 is finally making money off the system itself and the ps3 is also starting to turn around.

Also will the slow in the world economy that is going to slow down them a bit too.

Id really like to know how MS and sony plan to make our next system around the $300 mark as they both had a hard time doing so this time around.

they already said they're plannin on running this gen for longer, they dont want people to have to keep buying new hardware. i'd say 2013 earliest

Huh? It's already out in Japan and it's called the DSi LL, and it has sold quite well. Gonna be called DSi XL in the EU and US

I heard that all the new first party nintendo games will be made exclusively for it, and DS lites cant down-size the screen of those games. So maybe it will be the successor to the ones we have in the US? Or maybe you guys can tell me its just another "side-grade" and theres no reason to trade in your DS light for one

depends what you think.

Some say as early as 2011 could be the next xbox, others say 2012-2014 will be the next gen, Then there are even some that say the only system we will see next gen is the wii2.

I would say around 2011 we might be told something like a *hint*, something like the info we got last year about the next xbox being more like the cells in the ps3 and working off intel processors and such. By 2012 will have solid info on who will have the 1st one out(the xbox we can safely bet on)

this is all just me guessing tho. take that as you will.

Nintendo haven't said it, but with the amount of Wii's they're selling, they don't really need a new console right now.

Although I wouldn't be surprised to see a HD version Nintendo console appear sooner or later.

Yeah. They're losing third party support for the Wii, because anything that isn't first party games sell like shit with the exception of a few. Big publishers are starting to focus more on the PS3/360, and I don't blame them because while Nintendo may have grabbed the casual crowd, the casual crowd do not buy software like core gamers.

So yeah, I would say possibly 2011 for Nintendo. Maybe more info from them at this years E3.

thing about this set is that the Xbox was over $1 billion to make with over a billion in RROD crap they had to deal with. making them in a big ass hole. Both the X-box 360 and PS3 lose money per system. The PS3 had to lose per unit in order to make the price decent for a normal person to buy, the 360 had to in order to be a cheaper system to sell better then the ps3. The PS3 cut their price what happened right after? the 360 did so. All of this is leading MS and sony in my mind to slow their next system, I think the ps3 and 360 are going to go much longer then the *10 year cycle* sony had planed.

Yes I know MS said nothing like that, but the truth is the longer the system stays and sells the cheaper it is to make the more money they make.

the wii on the other hand made money out of the box, the system cost to make was hovering around 160 at launch... think about that.

the PS3 cost over $3billion to make and just in the past year and a half is starting to sell.

MS might be making money now if they have got the RROD under control. It cost them a lot of money at the onset of the system up till recently(and if the systems are still doing it no clue if they really are making money)

That is the only thing we have to look at to see if MS is making money or not.
