Yea they said that, forgot to mention it. They said it does need to be on. But it can be running on the absolute lowest power setting or whatever, it just needs to be turned on.

It has a dormant "Sleep" mode, pretty sure thats what they are referring to. It wakes up when you turn on the system with the wireless controller.

No, they explicitly said you cannot do it in "Sleep" mode. It has to be active, but they said everything can be dimmed or w/e.

Picked up Super Paper Mario today, and I'm having a blast with it. Definitly worth a look/buy. Excellent fun.

I just bought mine and can't wait to play after work.

Drama and Speculation:
Gears of War 3 is going to be on PS3. I was just listening to an interview with the head of Epic Games, and this guy Mark Rein who is a big wig for Gears. They seem to really dislike MS. The 1up guys were interviewing them about this Games for Windows Live thing that MS is starting on the comp, which is gonna be Xbox Live on the PC. And essentially it is going to be charging the Xbox Live price for some basic multiplayer gameplay functions that always were free on the PC.
Epic for one, has always been a big proponent of this with Unreal Tournament. And now they are going to be releasing 4 new maps for Gears soon. They wanted them to be free, but MS is making them charge for it.
The tone of voice and mood from these Epic guys made them sound really offended and disgusted by this Games for Windows Live, because now the development of Windows games is going to change, because companies are not going to be able to include the core features that have always been a part of PC games (Voice chat, Leaderboards, Buddy Lists... basic multiplayer will be available with the free service)
Either way, MS better get rid of that 50 dollar Live service fee soon, or they might lose other first parties, if Epic leaves. Gears 1 and 2 are contracted, which is why I said 3.

That's fine... i'm just saying that right now it looks exactly like Halo 1/2... not that impressive, at least by 360 standards.

The graphics looked more like Halo 2.5 than Halo 3, didn't really notice any gigantic upgrades, at least as far as the environment/overall graphics went. Resolutions, textures etc may be improved I guess, but having spent so much time playing Gears of War, I just expect 360 games to blow my mind visually.

Like everyone is saying though, its just in beta right now, and I have absolutely no fears that the gameplay will be amazing.

I'm not going to really add to a console war discussion, but could anyone lend me some advice?

I won some store credit at work, so I can get a new game for $10 of my own money, but I can't really decide. I've heard good things about Godfather: Blackhand Edition, and the RPG aspect sounds good, but I've heard tons of hype for Super Paper Mario, but never got into the series that much. What is a man to do?
