Not saying its not outselling the others, which anyone could guess. But if you think about it, calling the list for "online capable" games really only hurts the Wii, which would outdo both if the list had a more accurate title (aka All games)

An interesting Sony logo: “PSN Pass” has popped up on the box art for Resistance 3 and has led many to wonder what the logo could possibly mean. Luckily a SCEA spokesperson was quick to clarify the definition of the new “PSN Pass”. Similar to EA’s Online Pass or Mortal Kombat’s online pass, purchasers will have to use a free one-time code to get online services for the title. If you buy the game used and want to go online, you’ll have to purchase a code from the PlayStation Store.

“We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities,” the spokesperson said. “This program will be game-specific. Games that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title.”

In my opinion, this is another way that publishers and developers are battling the used games market. I think it’s a smart move, considering used games make a huge financial dent in the gaming industry.

So basically that rumour was true back during the PS3 hackings about games potentially coming with unique serial keys, except it ended up being for the online portions of the game only, where it should stay.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Pass thing ends up being a new portion of the store and separate from the redeem-code function.

Didn't want to make a thread on it, but apparently things aren't good anywhere in Nintendo...
Iwata and board take heavy pay cuts.

Earlier today we announced Sucker Punch Productions has officially joined Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios. We’re thrilled to share the news and welcome Sucker Punch to the PlayStation family.

Brian Fleming, managing partner of Sucker Punch Productions had this to say about becoming the sixteenth studio to join PlayStation:

“We’ve enjoyed an incredible relationship with Sony that has allowed us to combine our creative design capabilities with their guidance to make some of the best franchises to hit the PlayStation platforms. Equally important, the relationship with SCE has provided us the flexibility and trust to take creative risks and invent new properties. And best of all, we get to keep doing what we do — pushing ourselves to make more innovative games and more exciting experiences for PlayStation gamers!”
We’ve worked closely with Sucker Punch for more than 12 years, bringing fan favorites like Sly Cooper series and, of course, the inFAMOUS storyline to life on PlayStation platforms. On behalf of our executive team and Worldwide Studios, I’d like to take just a moment to welcome this immensely talented group of individuals to our team. I look forward to seeing what kind of gaming magic we can make happen in the months and years ahead!

Looks like Sony is doing their own 'Summer of Arcade' now: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/08/05/psnplay/

Only thing of interest in that article to me is that I'll be getting 20% off of SF3 for having PS+, whoo!

Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two on Monday reported a swing to a loss and a decrease in revenues for the first fiscal quarter ended June 30.

Those losses occurred even as Take-Two released high-profile titles L.A. Noire and Duke Nukem Forever during the period.

Net revenue for the quarter was $334.4 million, down from $375.4 million for the same quarter a year prior. GAAP losses for the period were $8.6 million, down from profits of $27.4 million year-on-year.

The company said digitally-delivered content accounted for $24.6 million of net revenue, up 49 percent year-over-year, thanks to properties like Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands, Grand Theft Auto, Duke Nukem Forever, Civilization and L.A. Noire.

Take-Two previously announced that interactive crime drama L.A. Noire had shipped 4 million units. The game is also slated for a PC release this fall.

While GAAP figures showed losses, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick opted to focus more on non-GAAP figures, which exclude one-off expenses such as losses from discontinued operations or legal fees.

Non-GAAP net income was $2 million for the period, down from $40.9 million a year prior. Zelnick said in a statement, "During the first quarter, we delivered revenue and non-GAAP profits that were in line with our expectations."

"Our results benefited from the launch of Rockstar's groundbreaking and critically acclaimed title L.A. Noire, the release of Duke Nukem Forever, continued strong sales of NBA 2K11 and Red Dead Redemption, and growth in digitally delivered content. Given our solid performance year-to-date and robust pipeline of upcoming new releases, we are well positioned to be profitable on a non-GAAP basis in fiscal year 2012."

The publisher expects to report $1 to $1.1 billion in sales for the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2012, comparable to the previous fiscal year's $1.16 billion in sales. Take-Two expects GAAP earnings per share to to be 10 to 35 cents.

Zelnick added, "Looking ahead to fiscal year 2013, we have already announced three exciting new releases: BioShock Infinite, Spec Ops: The Line, and Borderlands 2, and we have a very strong pipeline of yet-to-be announced titles in development."

"As a result, we continue to expect to achieve substantial revenue and earnings growth, including non-GAAP net income in excess of $2 per share."

    PS3 fw3.70 is out - http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/...-update-v3-70/

New XMB category for TV-related shit is annoying. I want LESS options on the XMB to flick through, not more. Still annoyed that the existing apps (Photo Viewer, Video Editor, PS Home, etc) are permanently stuck on my XMB regardless of them being installed or not. They need to just put those on PSN and make them optional.

Sony doesn't seem to realize I don't like having my PS3 turn on and do shit on its own, I'd prefer it to auto-sync saves/trophies while I'm playing the game, or at least while I'm in the XMB.

Those auto-updates are PS+ members only correct? Meh.

I dunno, I'd like the ability (without paying for PS+) for the PS3 to be able to turn itself on in the middle of the night and update games, rather than pop a disc in to play only to be greeted by a 600MB patch that needs downloading.

If I could better control what it does I may bother with it, but everything is grouped under 'automatic download', including sponsored demos and other crap I don't want it wasting HD space on.

It doesn't download demos or anything like that. For the most part just checks for patches.
