PS3 20gb officially dead

Just as Microsoft's about to introduce a new Xbox 360 SKU, Sony's announced they're removing one from the marketplace. Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today they've officially dropped the PlayStation 3 20GB SKU and will no longer be offering the cheaper, Wi-Fi less model to North American retailers. Sony says a 10-to-1 retailer demand for the 60GB SKU has prompted the move.

Don't panic, though, as 20GB owners will continue to receive the same customer service support they were guaranteed upon purchasing the machine. The architecture between the 20GB and 60GB SKUs are the same, save for a few feature differences, so the shift is minimal from a customer relations and development perspective -- unlike Microsoft, who cannot drop support for the Core SKU, as that model doesn't come with a built-in hard drive.

"At launch, we offered two separate models of PLAYSTATION 3 to meet the diverse needs and interests of our PlayStation fan base. Initial retail demand in North America was upwards of ninety percent in favor of the 60GB sku, so we manufactured and shipped-in accordingly. Due to the overwhelming demand for the 60GB model from both retailers and consumers, we have ceased offering the 20GB model here in North America," said SCEA senior director of corporate communications Dave Karraker.

"In addition to the larger internal hard drive, the 60GB PlayStation 3 features added storage media slots and built-in Wi-Fi not found in the 20GB system. Based on retailer and consumer feedback, we have decided to focus our current efforts on the more popular 60GB model," he concluded.

And so it's official -- less than six months after the launch of the PS3, the 20GB SKU is officially dead.

I think they still sell it in Japan, but that is just suprising that it's discontinued altogether in US. They weren't at the EU launch either.

spent like 2 hours beating chapter 1. had to get up, would easily play through the night if i had nothing to do... so much fun :D

Ditto 2.5 hours here, I played up until getting Peach. I love all the humor in the game:

"Red Cap, Blue Overalls, Level 5 mustahce, yep it's him!" I lol'ed

The game progresses very well, I love the pacing. I also really like the idea of the cards for each enemy so you do more damage to them.. the game is a blast!

one of my favorite moments is when you get Thoreau (great name btw) his little monologue is just priceless. sooo much fun and its funny to boot, and eye candy every second. love the stenciling effect they do whenever you get to a new area. my only gripe is so far it seems to be very linear (i stopped right at the save block before the princess peach CS) I hope it opens up a bit, I could see myself easily knocking out a chapter per sitting if they're the same length as chapter 1...all in all doesn't matter, can see myself already playing this again.

Bowser has my favorite quote so far I think, when he joins up with you. (I'm at the Space zone, that is some ridiculous shooting fun). He said something like "No way am I joining you! I'm rocksteady grade-A 100% final boss material." Paper version of Bowser was always my favorite.

The chapters do get somewhat longer, but I haven't seen a really long zone yet, so inno. I stumbled upon a Cave of 100 Trials thing, but quit after Floor 20 for the time being. There's also a minigame arcade if you 3d at the back of the bar, I got kind of obsessed with the tilting game and played that for like an hour.

I just bought a Used (yes, Used) PSP from Craiglslist.

Its in very well condition with minor, scratches on the side (not on the screen), got a rubber covering protecting it, + 2 movies (The DaVinci Code + Guess Who?), and 3 games NBA Ballers: Rebound, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Sega: Collection for only $140.00

The thing is Remote Play is fucking amazing.
I didnt understand it at much first, was hassleing my network to let the PSP onto it, but when finally done, Sony hit this shit out of the ball park.

I have the 40GB PS2 HDD as an external HDD, which has like 15-20 Mpeg HD quality movies on it.
Now I can leave my PS3 on sleep mode and in Remote play, and watch any of the movies from my external HDD via WLAN on my PSP.
Benefit is, when other people in my family want to use the TV and I wanna watch a movie or listen to some stuff, I can do it thru my PSP, I think MS has the same fuctionality with the Zune and PC with MEdia center, but not to this degree.

I had some bad taco food last nite, and my ass ran for the border, the PSP gave me good company, while I watched half of 300 (HD) in the bathroom Roffles!

Good quality too, frame rate was good, no hiccups, my signal is always around 95-100%

I *think* it's Floor 1, might be B1. it's just a brown building, not very hard to miss, it's on the left side of the floor.

The Cave of 100 Trials thing you need to actually do some work to open, I remember wandering around not knowing what I was really doing (I was looking for a heart pillar) and unlocked it.

"Mr. L" has the best quote now though. I won't spoil it for ya, but lol.

Oh, and those Versus scans look pretty cool.

When I heard about this on the podcast I was listening to, they said you need to have the most updated firmware for both PS3 and PSP.
