I just talked to a GS yesterday. They will not allow you to preorder the Elite. I assume you will just need to get lucky, or wait for one or whatever you want to do.

That's actually not too bad then.... but still, what about the HDD items? The downloads aren't a problem because you can download everything for free again, it IS connected to your live account. The saves though will go down the drain.

I am not exactly sure about that Exo. I had heard before the dl's might have been tied to your box and not your live account tbh...

No, they're linked to your account. I read an article about all 3 consoles on IGN a couple of weeks ago stating that all 3 consoles have their own ways of letting you download the items you already paid for once before for free... Wii has a total different section saying "downloaded titles", ps3 has something similar in its ps3 store, and 360 lets you download what you already downloaded because there's a checkmark next to it when you sign in with your name.

It wouldn't make sense if it was box linked, because then everyone would just be downloading stuff for each other for free, since their box already downloaded it once before.

No, I think M$ was making the point that if it is tied to that specific box, then you cannot download it again on someone else's 360 if you were just to log in to your account on that other person's box. Sorry I know that was a run-on sentence, but I hope it made sense.

Po, I read about the spring update changing the way content is linked. I'm pretty sure they'll make it if not already linked to the gamertag for people who plan on upgrading.

Yeah but that's what i'm afraid of... not gonna sell my 360 for 250, only to have to buy one again for 400 later because I couldn't get a hold of an elite.

They'll be limited # of Elite 360s, ie black ones but i believe there will be unlimited supply of the new 120GB/HDMI 360 in white.

What I understand is that it will $250 in store credit. That only leaves $230 left on the Elite. Which, again, is only 50 dollars more than the stand-alone 120 HD.

It will be 250 store credit for anything you want, not just the Elite, which is actually nice.

As far as that 100k amount for Elites, I have no idea where u came up with that number, but microsoft never said that. And if I am wrong please show me that link.
But yea of course there is going to be limited amounts, just like any new hardware.
