FF has sucked ever since FFIX, and you're lying to yourself if you think it's still a dominant series.

But yeah, FFX had a good battle system, crappy story IMO... no one cares about a fruity main character who keeps crying that he left home. FFX-2 has the series' BEST (yes, the BEST, PLAY IT!) battle system, but again...story lacked.

FF12 was a disaster in my eyes, it was just too boring to play but I finished the story anyways just to get ready for the sequel they're releasing on the DS, which looks promising. You could tell that Nomura's touch is missing in 12 though, the characters aren't that rememberable and again... battle system was bad imo, since gambits pretty much did everything for you by mid-game.

I really do hope FFXIII picks up where IX left off... if not, SE better just end the series and start calling their games by a different title, because it's just ruining the great legacy the SNES and PSX FFs have left.

Nothing, lol. Anyone who denies FF13 as the biggest system seller the PS3 has (had? lol), is just in complete denial.

I will stand by my opinion and say that if the PS3 does lose FF13 as an exclusive they will NEVER rise above 3rd place this gen.

Fixed. As for "Nomura's touch", there were belts, there were zippers, there were Gackt-ish feminine look male characters. Even though he didn't design it, his presence can still be felt.

And technically you're right about the thing since FF6, but to be honest FF8 and 9 were really good... (for their time, FF8 was my first FF, and 9 was my second, and only after that did I go back to 7 and then the SNES games, so i'm a little biased towards those two titles but I still believe they're better because I didn't have the FF6>7 transition feeling that most fans of the series had at that point, which is what put FF7 on that high pedestal to begin with.)

OH and Pro. I assumed you were another person who swore by the holy bible that is FF7. I didnt mean to come off so strong. Yes you could call it a system seller but I for one believe it was the last game of the FF series that really sold playstations all by itself. Yeah the FF games might have helped, but Halo/MGS2/Pokemon R&B and a few other games were reason enough alone to buy their respective consoles. Ever since 7 no FF game has really had that type of effect.

Hell, i'd even go as far to say just as many people put FFT as their favorite FF as those who liked 7.

But yes, I believe FF9 is the best PSX FF out of the 3. And this isn't nostalgia speaking, I just believe that going back to the 4-person party setting and the awesome story that it had (with a kickass villian in Kuja to top it all off) had a great game experience in the long run. The one annoying thing about it was that the final boss wasn't even remotely mentioned before, so it was kind of weird.

Err...I can't remember every post every person ever made about justifying a PS3 purchase, but I'm willing to bet more people wanted FF13 than any other game it had coming out. It's FF, dude. The series has consistently sold tons and tons of copies and has an extremely loyal fanbase in Japan AND here. Why do you think they have been re-released so much? Why do you think people are so critical of the series in general? Why the art style and battle system have been steadily changing to appeal to non-trational RPG esque gamers?

I'm telling ya, if the PS3 loses this, they are gonna be stuck at the bottom of the barrel...no matter how much some people might not like the current FF trend, no matter what people thought of the last few installments, it was the biggest thing the PS3 had. Losing this game is a freaking deathblow, I can't believe you are trying to downplay it, lol. Who the hell is gonna stick with the PS3 as an exclusive or release games designed for the PS3 if it's flagship title that Sony has been touting all this time goes multi? What will come after MGS? Will that even stay exclusive? After a multi-FF13 I wouldn't call anything set in stone for the PS3.

Sad but true.

Madden and the like sell console, but generally, they all target the same audience (the casual gamer). Those games are generally released on every system, so it's not fair to call it a "system seller". In a way, they are just going to amplify the sales.


Halo2 is a system sellers on the same level FF12 is, or any other big titles. Fan of the genre will buy a particular system for the game. However, the real "system sellers" game are the one that come early in the first 2 years. The late game mostly live on the success of the first one.

Would you ask Picasso to change his painting style? Would you ask Mozart to play different kind of music? Why Quentin Tarantino movie all feel similar?Yes, Nomura's work look like Nomura's work...I'm not sure why you want him to change.

I know artists try different style at time, but it's still stupid to complain about it when he is just following the same one.
