Madden and the like sell console, but generally, they all target the same audience (the casual gamer). Those games are generally released on every system, so it's not fair to call it a "system seller". In a way, they are just going to amplify the sales.

Halo is a system sellers on the same level that FF12 was, or any other big title. Fan of the genre will buy a particular system for that game.
Wrong. Don't compare Halo to freaking FF12 lol.

Halo 1 was selling in the top 3 for it's system for 2 years after its release. 70% of my friends took off days from school/work just to play Halo 2 when it launched. The midnight release for Halo 2 was so packed that the air conditioner in the EB games i went to wouldnt work properly due to all the body heat.

Halo2 sold 1.5 million preorders and 2.4 million copies in it's first 24 hours. That is more copies than FFXII has sold to date.

Last year, more people showed up for Madden's midnight launch than FF12's.

LOL at comparing FFXII to freaking Halo of all games......

Oh and sorry yeah i get my disney characters mixed up alot, i only said Daffy because it sounded write when i was typing it lol. >_<

It's Donald, not Daffy. Shame on you getting the ducks mixed up. Unless you're talking about some obscure Daffy.

Fixed. And I would definitely buy a PS3 for KH3. At this point, it's the ONLY thing I'd buy it for, tbh. But if the PS3 can lose FF13, KH3 can most definitely move also. They have already shown interest in the Wii and DS, and I'm sure M$ wouldn't say no to them. Like I said, who's seriously going to stick with the PS3 and create huge exclusives for it if FF13 is even leaving, after being showcased as a beautiful PS3 exclusive for over a year? I can't think of many companies willing to do that...

Don't you just love Yoshitaka Amano's work? So beautiful, elegant, complicated yet simple at the same time. Square-Enix is doing something they've done before. Taken one game, and turned it into a cash cow by milking every aspect of it. It's nothing new, they'll do it again in the future I'm sure.

The Fabula Nova Crystallis Project. In latin, it means the New Tale of the Crystal. The articles circling the net about the new Australian PlayStation Magazine interview with Motomu Toriyama say what was pretty much already known. Square is taking their new universe they have made for FFXIII and spinning it off into multiple projects. These projects are not only for the PS3 and mobile phones. That's it, the wild speculation can take that however you want to spin it. You can look at it as omg the end is coming and the main FFXIII core game is going to other consoles, or you can look at it as games based in that universe are going to other consoles.

In my opinion, I think FFXIII will be if nothing else, a timed exclusive. Staying on the PS3 at least for several months. People can say ain't gonna happen, but this has been said time and time again about other games going back and forth. Having a title exclusive to one system is not good business. Those who say Square Enix hates Microsoft are mistaken as well. They've gotten along very well in bringing FFXI to the 360. A port is a port. And if they can make more money, they are going to make more money.

The only thing I have left to say, is that the game to be announced at the 20th Anniversary celebration is the new Final Fantasy MMORPG. In my opinion it will be part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Project, and it will be for Xbox 360, PC, and PS3. It is a Final Fantasy no one knows about in a sense, because all that has been said up until now is that they have been hard at work on a new MMORPG. It was never confirmed to be a Final Fantasy title. The future looks bright though for everyone, only time will tell who is getting what and in the end it shouldn't matter what system it is on. If you are a Final Fantasy lover you'll go where the game is.

I still think it's going to an offline exclusive based on the FF13 universe, and will be on either the 360 or wii, with a lean towards the 360 because SE likes pretty graphics.

And if it is the new MMO, they need to fucking stop using the numbers... Calling it FFXIV would just be dumb.

Saying it sold in the top 3 of its system doesnt mean much. We all know the first xbox lacked game for a long time, and Halo 1 was one of the first worthwhile game. I cant even remember a worthwhile game before Halo1. Also, I dont see how saying that "70% of your friend took a day off to play Halo 2" is a valid argument except to prove that 70% of your friend are retarded, which lead me to believe you might be like them.

FFX 5 millions FFXII sold 4millions copy so far
    Halo1 5millions and Halo2 8millions

The point isnt to know which one sold more, but which one sell more system. I personally bought a PS2 for FFX, and most of my friend also did. I don't own a xbox, but my friend who bought one got it for Halo.

How many people who like rpg bought a ps2 because of FFX? Many. Metal gears solid/FFX is what gave the PS2 the initial push, and it's why developper continued to make game for that console. Then you have the casual gamer game like GTA on a already popular console that boost sales even more.

Also, keep in mind Xbox 360 had online gameplay, while the ps2 did not (well, ps2 online was a failure). It's one of the reason why halo2 sold so well, since it was a great oportunity for people to play online.

I <3 8 and 9, I love 8's story, the artwork and sprite designs and just the overall realism, I like the story too, the ending could've maybe used a little work but it was pretty complete and I liked it D;. All of the little added extras like the card game, and SeeD ranks(if you didnt look online or w/e, been a while I forget ><), other things to do in the game. <333 8

    Sorry had to say that;

Why would they make an organization type thing all for a cellphone game? Sounds lame.... hopefully they bring them to some use in the other titles as well.

i think you might be underestimating "cellphone game"

the phone technologies in u.s. are like antique compared to the rest of the world, especially asia

japanese kids have played with the "3G" phones--supposedly new to the states--literally a decade ago, and video chat on cellphones have became popular since at least 6 or 7 years ago... and games on cellphones has been sought after and will probably become a huge market and eventually take over handhelds (which is why i thought psp has been doing so bad there)

most big japanese video game companies have been doing small budget cellphone games for years: nintendo, konami, capcom, sega, and of course SE... this new game by SE just happen to be bigger than the other ones to invest more into that cellphone game market

You're right in saying FFX AND MGS2 sold systems. You're wrong in saying that any PS2 FF game alone sold as many systems as it did because it simply didnt. Halo was the sole reason to own an xbox for 2-3 years after it's release.

According to Gamepro magazine and Wikipedia, Halo 2 has sold 9.2 million as of last year. This is an original xbox game that has like 25% of the userbase compared to Playstation 2. The fact that Halo 2 has a larger amount of copies sold on a failure of a system than FFX/XII combined is rediculous. Again, why are you even arguing this?

    10% of PS2 owners have FFX/FFXII.
More than 50% of xbox owners have Halo1/2.

MGS2, GTA3, and FFX, all came out in the same year. Both games outsold FFX. The fact that FF wasnt' even a topseller on it's own system only proves my point even more. You simply cannot compare it to Halo.

Fact: Halo 2 alone has outsold FFX and FFXII combined. On a system that has a fraction of the userbase compared to PS2. Why you are even arguing this is beyond me.

This is easy. FFVIII is garbage. It had the worst story of all time. The entire game was Squall fucking crying and bitching about something, and then Rinoa or whoever the fuck sucked his cock, then he bitched some more. And then they threw in that whole alternate dimension shit with those 3 fags which never made any sense. Lets see what else. 2 of the dumbest, most retarded head bosses ever. I forget that queen chick's name, and then Seifer who was the biggest fucking douche bag ever. And then the supporting cast? Zell? That chick with the nunchuks? Fucking pathetic. Squaresoft got fucking complacent with this game after the immense success of 7, thank goodness they redeemed themselves with 9.

So yes any bad game can be remembered fondly in lieu of nostalgia. But 8 goes above and beyond that, because I don't know anyone who likes that game for no reason other than nostalgia. Obviously I am a little biased about that game. But it was just garbage.

Oh, and for the record, Moogles are the single most awesome creation from Squaresoft.

Speaking of Squaresoft.. hasn't the decline in Final Fantasy's only happened since Enix jumped on board? Enix wasn't there for the 3 PS1 FF's, I know that much. I never understood why Square did this. It is not like Enix really had anything to contribute except what, Star Ocean? It's not like Square needed that franchise. I always wished Square would kick Enix to the curb.

As far as FFXIII, it is all speculation whether they meant the trilogy of games or the main FFXIII to be going multiplatform. So I'll just wait and see.

They meant a trilogy... it wouldn't make sense to release 5-6 games of the nova crystallis project, only to have half of them multi-platform. They're releasing so many so they can provide a game to each of the leading consoles... at least that's how I see it.

They will probably go for a PS3/360/Wii/DS/PSP/Cellphone trilogy, or maybe make the 360/wii one multi.

As far as FF8 goes, I thought it was pretty good, if you extract the whole squall element out of it. The garden battle was fucking epic, it was even more epic when you split into two teams and half go to stop the bombs and the others go to warn the garden. Seifer is a kickass bad guy, and Laguna is on an all new level of awesomeness.

But I still prefer FF9 to both 7 and 8.

Neo-Geo games coming to Virtual Console this summer for prob 9 bucks a pop.
    http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3158811

All I really know about Neo-Geo is that it launched at like 500 dollars. Were there some good games that came out for it? They said King of Fighters and Metal Slug wouldn't be coming because they were already released in other anthologies.

What was their reason for launching so high? Were the graphics really good?
Any input on this would be appreciated

Yes the graphics were really really good compared to any other system out at the time so much so that Neo Geo systems were used in arcade machines. The cart size were also much larger then any of the other consoles out at the time as well. Like 100-500 Mbits compared to the SNES's 32Mbits carts. Some games that I enjoyed were Fatal Fury, Metal Slug, King Of Fighters, Bust a Move, Samurai Showdown and World Heroes. Most were fighting games but those were the thing to play at the Arcades back then.

You can get a general feel for the graphics by grabbing Mame a few ROMs and comparing it to any SNES/genesis/T16 game out.

Sorta... If you consider cell phone multiplatform. Versus is still going to be Ps3 only.
