Haven't seen this posted yet. New info regarding Super Smash Bros

The news abounds in connection with Nintendo's next bomb.

This time they are new names, in the absence of new faces, which are revealed to us through an interview granted by Masashiro Sakurai to the radio transmission of Tokyo's “The Gaming Show”.

He confirmed that the following characters will appear in the new Smash Bros.

Bowser Jr.
Ridley, the famous enemy of Samus.
Wind Waker Link.

And certain characters will disappear:

Ice Climbers
Mr. Game & Watch
Young Link.

Young Link will not really disappear since he will simply be replaced by the Cell-shaded version and his name will be always the same one.

The fans of Falco will be with the angels, since [Sakurai] has confirmed that the characters who weren't formerly “clones” will remain but will be worked over again to offer a true panel of blows to them.

In his opinion, the lack of interest for Mr. Game & Watch and Ice Climbers was obvious and he has to decide to replace them by Pit of Kid Icarus.

Pit should be the only one representing the “old school” and traditional ones.

[Sakurai] finally affirmed that the total number of characters should approach forty, leaving place for about fifteen new ones and one or two 3rd party characters.

It's not only the lack of interest, but awful control both character had. >_> Ice climber were arguably the worse character with pichu, and Game & Watch was too random and had horrible range.

I'll miss the Ice Climbers, but YES!!!!! at Bowser Jr. and Ridley. And wow at 40ish characters. Assuming the rest of the characters are still there besides those 3, I wonder who else. I'm guessing Lucario or some other new Pokemon and Sonic, but the rest? I really dunno...

Considering that Nintendo + Sega are working together w/ that Mario/Sonic Olympics game, I'd eat my shorts if Sonic wasn't one of the third-party characters in Smash Bros.

Oh, and I actually enjoyed FF8. Draw system really sucked, junction was ok (draw system made choosing to junction or actually cast magic a trade-off), but I liked the characters/story/world.

- Fabula Nova Crystallis is a ten year project. It will be similar in scope to Star Wars.

- Crystal Chronicles II will make heavy use of the Wiimote.

- SE currently thinks about several casual games for DS.

- There'll be many announcement, including new games, at the SE party, TGS and Jump Festa this year. Not only SE-fans, but especially Nintendo-fans should look forward to the SE party in May.

...10 years making FF13 games. Holy hell...

Going back to the Smash Bros. discussion. I find it hard to believe that Ridley will be a playable character. It is a fucking Dragon.. how the hell would you control it? Fly around? I just don't see that really fitting in, I will await Nintendo's official word on this 1.

And Bowser Jr. is one of the most annoying Nintendo characters ever. I would much rather have Game and Watch than him. At least G&W had that frying pan with the sausages

Looks like PS3 Firmware, was updated, actually sounds pretty cool:
-You can now play the PS1 games you downloaded to the system on the PS3 instead of having to play it on the PSP.
-Vibration function for accesories with PS2 and PS1 games now works

Seems pretty useful.
