That's a cute little conspiracy theory. What do you have to back it up? Photos of Wiis stacked to warehouse ceilings?Originally Posted by Exoduso

That would be true if my store didnt get 18 a couple weeks ago. And we were getting shipments almost every week before that but just 3 at a time. They stopped for a few weeks so that they could make larger shipments... and they did.Originally Posted by Exoduso
Just becuase the system sells as soon as it gets to the store doesnt magically mean theyre hiding them. It just that nintendo is having a hard time keeping up with the retardedly high demand.
The 'rumor' is that because Nintendo had already met financial expectations for the previous quarter, they intentionally held back shipments of the Wii so as to raise expectations for this quarter and drive further profits/raise stock/etc.
And if your store suddenly getting 18 Wiis at the beginning of April (start of new quarter) is any indication, there might be some fire to that smoke.
well, since we are talking about nintendo wii
new info in the june issue of "Nintendo Dream" magazine regarding FF13:
1. "Fabula Nova Crystallis FFXIII" is being planned as a project that will last through this console generation of approx. 10 years. the size of the story universe is being compared to star wars and lord of the ring by developers, setting will be si-fi comparable with FF7 and FF8
2. FF13 and FFversus13 have always been developed on the basis of blu-ray and multi-core CPU (cell), and although SE has licensed unreal engine 3, FF13 will still be solely developed on the home made white engine
3. the "FF that nobody knows about" to be announced at SE party 07 may be a new FF13 title on the wii
and there are other minor details such as new character announced (not the blond guy) named "initially" or something >.>
(huh, wonder if i should've made a new thread with this instead of putting in the console war thread lol)
edit: no new character announcement, turned out to be bad translation, "initially" refered to Lightning
I wonder how "Fabula Nova Crystallis" will turn out. I always liked game/book/movie that happen in a complex and detailled world, it give more depth to the story. If they do it correctly, it could lead to interesting result.
I'm not sure why people complain about them "milking" money of FF13 tho. As far as we know, every games of the project are complete and independant with the exception of the world
Its hard to milk something that hasn't even been released. I don't have a problem with them deciding that the FF13 universe/grand story will cover multiple games on multiple systems, because they decided it from the get-go. Milking to me is trying to force additional storylines out of a game that came out 10 years ago when you never really planned to tell more of the story anyway.
Yea, why complain about something you don't know enough about yet? As long as the games are nice...and it sounds like they have been working on it (and will continue to) for quite a while, so chances are they will be very nice.
These are worldwide NPD numbers correct? Not just the US or Japan?
Because in regards to Exo's comment:
That is only in the USA. In Japan they are damn near impossible to get. That is why they sell 500k a month steady which is crazy. I wonder how long until they over take the PS2 (speculation).Just today I was at my local EB, and they had like 20 pink, 20 black, and 10 white DS's just sitting around on their top shelf.
And I have never seen a Wii in stores, ever since release. And I go in electronics places a lot.
Stores in my area have Wiis once in a while, as long as you call and ask them when they will be getting their next shipment you will get one.
I have actually *heard* that they have recently hired a different contractor to help them produce more, and produce them faster. As in the last 6-8 weeks. The contractor had a name but I forgot what it was.Originally Posted by Exoduso
I also wonder how long those DSes are gonna stay on the shelf after this weekend, with Pokemon D/P launching on Sunday. Will be interesting to see I suppose.
Don't forget you live in Cali. You get like the most supplies in the country, with the exception of maybe NYC.Originally Posted by Exoduso
That has a lot to do with it, yes heh.
the supply here is still pretty bleak. I still know more people looking for wii's than I do who actually own them. with the exception of the Nintendo World Store (where I got mine) places seem to always be out of stock.Originally Posted by Po
but at this point anyone in NYC who wants a Wii and hasn't gone to the Nintendo World store is a moron, i waited on line for a whopping hour total and walked away with a Wii, they always have enough
Changing subjects back to Elite real quick.
So If and When I get my new console, does anyone know if my Gamercard transfers all the Game played/Gamerscore/Friends List/etc information when I enter that Gamercard in on my new system?
Or
Is all that info saved on the box, and I need to transfer it with a memory card just like game saves.
So I guess simply:
Is Gamercard info saved on the box or on the 360 servers?
I'm pretty sure that when you retrieve your account on the new hard drive everything will be there.
The Achievements will be there for sure... so will the stuff you have already downloaded (well, there will a check next to them on the marketplace, you will have to just download them again -- but for free)... obviously your saves won't get transferred, but you should transfer those out before you sell your console.
I sold my old one and i'm pretty happy with it... now to just hope I can get my hands on an Elite (which will cost me about 30 bucks since I have about 420 in store credit with gamestop now)... and if not, I won't stress over it too much and just wait till more ship.
In the case they will stop shipping them i'll just use the store credit on reserving like, FF13/Versus/MGS/DMC/other stuff like that heh.
Yeah, my point kinda. Someone could say they are milking money of the FF franchise to some extent, but not the "Ff13 franchise". I posted that rant because many people in earlier page said they were milking ff13Originally Posted by Xavier
Thanks guys.
What do you think about Friends List, etc? That is all in the servers too huh?
And Exo, why the hell would they stop making them lol? This is like going to be a huge deal for M$. If anything they will stop making the Core, which I would guess would happen.
the FF franchise is one of the strangest things in the video game industry, because while they inheret the name, each title is totally different in story, setting, theme, and gameplay than the other (other than all being somewhat traditional RPG), and the name alone boosts sales of the game like a brand... so basically you have double brands for the game, one "square" and one "FF"... and most of the people are ok with thatOriginally Posted by Kaylia
i wonder if MS can finish the current halo series with halo3, then two years later release a halo4 with completely new world/story and characters and fans would be ok with it >.>
I wonder if Hideo could release a Metal Gear game where Solid Snake wasn't the main character and expect the fans to all go along with it...lol...
