This is just like the Xbox 360 Elite leaks all over again. First Sony pulls the PS3 20G from pretty much everywhere, then mixed signals of is it or is it not canceled. Then we get reports of requests submitted to the powers that be for a newer model number touting the differences as being minor changes to the Blue tooth and the hard drive size. Now.. rumors and pictures of letters and actual boxes showing the new model is really coming.

Price drop to the old 20G Price point for the current 60G model, and the new 80G takes the current 60G price. Wait & see... 8)

I get the feeling that the 80 gig would come in at closer to $700 and there wouldn't actually be a price drop. Unless they just want to bleed money.

Could possibly be fake to, something like that would be a joke to photoshop especially with the lighting in that pic. Besides, I think i'd prefer 60 gigs with cross compatibility rather than 80 gigs (even more so because the ps3 works with any usb storage device)

Kotaku posted the pic, and they think it's legit but are awaiting some word from Sony. Same was said about the Elite. Weeks of speculation, presumed photoshopped images and what not proved to be true. I'm seriously betting they're going ahead with the 80 at the 60s price. They are losing money, they know this already. But they also know their 60G is too high at it's current price. I think the removal of the 20G was indeed to slip the 60G into it's slot and price. That's only my opinion, but time will tell.

OH and Pro. I assumed you were another person who swore by the holy bible that is FF7. I didnt mean to come off so strong. Yes you could call it a system seller but I for one believe it was the last game of the FF series that really sold playstations all by itself.

Household Xbox 360 Number two died this morning at the age of four months. Number two was young, having just been born this past January. He lived a happy life, on a large console beneath the living room HDTV. He had plenty of fresh air, and room to breathe, no one crowded him or bothered him at all. He lived a very quiet life. He had a newer Ben Q Disc Drive, which made him much less noisey than his sibling Number one.

Number two enjoyed only a handful of Gears of War matches, and spent most of his time playing Final Fantasy XI. He is survived by his much older, yet in perfect health sibling Number One; who was born in November of 2005.

Services will be held in the morning at the Best Buy Customer Service counter. At the service, Number Two's replacement will say a few fond words in passing as he embarks on what will hopefully be a longer life than that of our dear departed, Number two.

Who knows if it will be a whole hundred less. They could try just fifty dollars less. I don't know. I do think they will lower the price of the 60 though to something close to, if not the same as the 20G.

I can't see them lowering it. I believe the reason they got rid of the 20GB SKU was because they were losing more money on it compared to the 60GB version. I could see them replacing the 60GB version or charging a little bit more for the 80GB version since the difference in cost is probably a few dollars.

The current production cost is (United States Dollar)$805 for the 20G model and $840 for the 60G. Sony is of course hoping to lower these costs by outsourcing the production of several key parts to the PS3.

Add in the removal of the PS2 Chip to the US PS3 soon, and you can knock off $20. That's right, twenty dollars is all it costs them to have near full backwards compatibility for PS2, and they are scraping it to do the same emulation shit that the European PS3 has going on in it.

It's too hard to tell if the 20GB version would have sold. You could never find it. I remember many people looking for one but unable to find the 20GB version unless they did a Wii like search. Wow where do you live Semitry? When I was in Reno visiting a friend we went out to look for a Wii this was just after Christmas and almost every store we went to they had the 20gig and 60gig ps3 in stock. Even in the SF bay area where I live almost all the stores have pretty steady stocks of ps3's in. Usually the 60gig version is gone before the 20gig version.

Though come to think of it the Walmart across the street from me has not had any ps3's in stock for about a month now.

Yeah there were no designated signs for a 20 gig PS3 when I bought mine.

They only had a spot for the 60 gig, and they were only advertising the 60 gig price.
