I picked up an Xbox 360 Elite this weekend with Gears of War. :D

Great game, and I'm impressed with the functionality that the 360 offers along with Xbox Live.

The BestBuy I got the elite from had about 20 of them and I arrived at 11 AM, which is when they opened.

Every store has an Elite in my area, but I don't think I'm going to bother with it until Blue Dragon comes out.. No 360 game currently interests me (and I already played/beat/overused the games that did interest me before), so if the Elite really is going to stay in production, i'll just hold off until Blue Dragon/Lost Odyssey come out, which is what i'm really interested in ATM (which will be just in time for Halo 3 as well..)

That's prob because you work at K Mart. I forgot that place even existed until you mentioned it. I'm surprised it's still around with Walmart and Target.

the elite isn't exactly a brand new console launch. I don't see why you are all griping on it as if it's a mad failure just because there wasn't many lined up for them.

This isn't exactly a fair comparison because of the price difference, but I tend to think of the 360 vs. the 360 Elite in terms of the Gameboy Advance/Gameboy Advance SP and Nintendo DS/DS Lite. In both instances where there was a remodel/slightly more functions added, gamers lined up and shipments sold out relatively quickly. In comparison, having the new 360s not sell out immediately basically means the new model isn't doing what its supposed to, which is inticing new consumers to purchase + having current consumers upgrade.

Again, its hard to consider it the exact same when its in terms of $100-150 and $400-500, but its generally the same concept.

Nintendo knows how to do these things better than its competition... even though I think the Slimline PS2 version is pretty common.

I still think the deal isn't bad.

Here is the way I look at it:

If you own a current premium and decide you want to upgrade your hard drive, you are paying 180 right (unless you do all the hack thing yea I know, not the point). So you are paying 50 dollars more to trade in your Premium ($250 trade in price) and upgrade to the Elite. Now in that box are probably at least ~100 dollars worth of video/audio cables that you would find at any electronics store, and the black controller which is alone 50 dollars. So if you are someone who wanted to upgrade the accessories, it only makes sense to trade in the system or sell it on your own and upgrade, since the cost is only 50 dollars more than the HDD on its own to get the sexy black, hdmi (with cables), and the controller, and black headset.

Doesn't seem so bad if you look at it that way.

You cant compare the DS/Lite and GBA/GBSP because those were complete remodels with extremely better backlit screens. The elite is esentially a recoat with HDMI and bigger hardrive. The elite won't really change the way you play games if you dont have 1080p, but the step up with GBA-SP was a pretty big.

From what I understand, HDMI isn't that amazing in comparison to components, even with 1080p. (Even though there aren't really any games that use true 1080p atm, so it's hard to tell)... but either way I would need the Elite because this way I could mount my TV. (I couldn't do it otherwise, because I would have to keep switching the 360/wii components in and out depending on whichever console I used... with the 360 going to the HDMI, i'll have my satellite and wii on components, and ps3 and 360 on hdmi, which works great) But again, no point in buying the 360 atm, for me anyways.

What is the release date on Blue Dragon anyways?

Considering how Microsoft didn't make any money during the entirety of the original Xbox's run, this news is not horribly surprising. But Microsoft will throw money at the gaming industry until they get some money out of it, I guess.

I think I read somewhere, MS is doing a complete overhaul on the Zune and it will feature more capacity, play games (ala PSP) and other stuff, a good addition, it will become 360's new buddy.

I know it does a little bit atm, but more like the synergy of the PSP <=> PS3
