normally i'd agree, but this is one game i'd actually be happy never to see it hit the shelves.

Games are supposed to be fun, entertaining, an escape from life. Why would anyone want to play a game so overly sadistic? A huge WTF @ Rockstar for this one.
did you ever see the first one? it was almost as pointless, and had the same kind of reaction. seems like they really just wanted to try and push it even further.
They deserve whatever happens to them next.
I'm not really that shocked.
The series itself really felt like Rockstar experimenting with how far they could go without massive backlash.
It's not surprising that they would go this far.
Though, not sure why they would need to experiment on how far they could go with raping and necrophilia..
its up for people to decide for themselves, not letting someone else decide for them. not gonna get into a massive debate here about censorship, ultimately i dont really care all too much. I still have Zelda and SPM to beat, and i plan to get RE4 once summer semester ends, all in all meaning I have no real interest in playing this game, but it should be made, then its up to consumers to decide if its something they want to experience or not.Originally Posted by Xavier

Yep, increased sales. Smart marketing like with the coffee bit. Both the PS2 and the Wii version has jumped to Amazon's top 100 since the announcement. You know they'll just cut a few scenes and turn it into a M title.Originally Posted by Xavier
Didnt this type of thing happen everytime Resident Evil got another sequel? (im talking saturn/ps1 days) They'll take out the bloody parts and im sure this game will be on shelves soon.
nooooooooooooooooo. I don't agree with censorship, it is up to the parents to decide what their kids shouldn't be playing, imposing restrictions on creativity isn't good for anyone. I'm just saying, why would anyone actually make a game where rape and necrophilia are core gameplay. I just think videogames stop being "art" when it boils down to raw rage and violence.Originally Posted by Oxyminus
But that is a form of art in my opinion. They're exploring a really dark side of human nature that obviously through world events you can tell exists. They're just exploring it a little more safely than going out and doing it themselves.Originally Posted by Xavier
I mean shit there have been books, movies, comics, music - almost every form of media has had something on this level. In my personal opinion music certainly has a wider audience and effect than video games do. And I certainly doubt a video game is going to give someone the idea or motivation to replicate that. If someones got that mindset it's there long beforehand, regardless if they try to mimic what they saw or read about somewhere else.
I mean hell, Muslim extremists don't play video games and they're cutting peoples heads off because of what they read in a 400 year old book.
Just think its in bad taste.
I don't really care for Manhunt myself so it makes me upset. I really don't need games like this to fuel the fire for the anti=Videogame people in washington. They'll point to the worst games and take everything. I rember when I was a kid growing up and I would watch Sabin's X-men, I always loved the sentinal scenes. They would not allow, Wolverene to cut a humans head off, and cyclops would alwasy have to do shit like shoot a stone off a cave ceiling to trap people. But when it came to sentinals they could unleash their true glory of shooting people in the face and riping arms off.
I don't want to be forced into shooting robots in the next great FPS![]()
I completely agree. I remember seeing the first one of these games. My friend ran up behind someone with a plastic bag and put it over the guys head to make him die, it is clear the same thing is going to happen this time.Originally Posted by Xavier
But, the good news is that it received an Adults Only rating and has now been "shelved" by Take Two. So it may never see the light of day now, or at least be toned down we can hope.

And yea the Wii rocks. It is a great complementary system to the 360.
I started RE4 for Wii today and the controls are fucking awesome, it is everything I hoped a shooting game would be on the Wii, you can aim anywhere you want, it works perfectly, and it's a bargain at 30 bucks!
I played the original manhunt and it didn't really phase me, it just wasn't an overly great game. I mean, sneaking up on people and paper bagging them was only fun for so long before it got repetitive. My big gripe here is that this is censorship politics coming in with some heavy handed action again.
rofl the comments on that are hilarious, they act like there is nothing at all wrong with the game and the esrb is out to get them with their AO rating.
The only issue they will run into is First Amendment shit.
But that isn't the issue here. The game got an AO rating, and most stores won't carry games that get that rating. So Rockstar/Take Two can't get their game out there if no one is gonna carry it.
but its not, it got the rating because it had content that deserved it, isnt breaking any 1st amendment rights.
lol I know that, I clearly said:
But that isn't the issue here
lol i never said this game is by any stretch artistic. ultimately i think you make a game like that causeOriginally Posted by Xavier
a) you can
b) people will buy it
c) people will talk about it (which adds more people to reason "b")
i never played the first one, dont plan on playing this one. its kind of a sick state of things when this is the kind of experience that sells games. i just spent an hour hopping around in SPM and that was much cooler anyway...just found the pit of trials and got to lvl 43 before i died >.<;
but yeah, fuck censorship!
edit: oh yeah and btw, know there are many more gimmicky games than "real" games coming out lately for Wii, but Boogie looks friggin cool. probably a crazy learning curve, and probably embaressing to play, but that deffinetly looks to be a sweet party game. I'll probably buy it, besides RE4 and madden 08, cant think of any games id be buying before then anyway. game has potential, seems to be the kinda thing Wii was made for.
I picked up RE4 Wii edition as well. Always wanted to play the GC/PS2 version. Such an awesome game so far, the first single player game i've been into for a while.
