Except maybe, just maybe, possibly, PERHAPS, the world does not revolve around you. Mayhaps there is the tinyest possibility that the people who still enjoy playing FFXI enjoy the content that's there, the people they do it with, and all that it has to offer.

But that would be crazy. Everyone is just like you, you're right. We're all blind! Our genuine enjoyment is just a facade! Obviously we are blind to your absolute, unquestionable truth! What is right for Kandykanes MUST be right for all of man kind, ever. It's IMPOSSIBLE to have a realistic outlook on the game that keeps the disappointments in perspective. It's IMPOSSIBLE for any other MMO company besides SE to make mistakes. We should focus ONLY on the mistakes, and realize that all other MMOs are superior! HOW COULD WE BE SO BLIND AS TO LISTEN TO OURSELVES?!

lol it's just my opinion, way to bring the holy hammer of sarcasm down on me. I was referring to people who seem to think FFXI is flawless, hasn't/will do no wrong, and all other games are terrible for not being FF... which is exactly how I used to think

I've pretty much given up on FFXI ever having an actual endgame. I recently reactivated my account after realizing I didn't play FFXI to actually play the game, for lack of a better way to put it, I played the social aspect of the game more than anything. Linkshell politics, friendships, planning, arbitration and drama, all of those were fun, sometimes stressful. I enjoyed it.

WoW on the whole is a much better game. Its community is sometimes unbearable though. I'm lucky and I fell in with some of ThoseGuys from Fairy on WoW, and I must say they provide a level headed place to be when it seems like everyone else on the server is 12.

I feel my views on both games are unbiased as I've participated in endgame on both.

I think i can admit now that WoW IS better than FFXI, should i quit and go play WoW? fuck no, i dont want another addiction, as it is im trying to get off FFXI, lol. I think whats holding me to FFXI is friends, and the fact that i've been a great fan of the FF series

I liked sky, around 3 years ago. Dynamis was actually fun about 2 years ago, it kept me entertained for 8 hours in a week, although the shitty northlands drop rate was dissapointing which is why 2 years later people are still doing it. Limbus was great a year ago for 2 or 3 hours of entertainment a week. Yes, FFXI endgame exists.

But what I'm talking about isn't opinion. It's fact. Blizzard listens to players. Blizzard doesn't use scapegoats to cover laziness. Blizzard has GMs that do something. Does it matter if you personally like FFXI more than WoW? Not really. From a barebones business perspective WoW is a better game because it is managed well.

You are still entitled to dislike the game play and I'll admit, it's not for everyone. But this isn't really about WoW vs FFXI as games. This is about the fact that looking at how Blizzard runs WoW compared to how SE runs FFXI should be a wake up call to people with love goggles.

By comparison FFXI is doing a piss poor job. Lately they are stepping it up and I applaud them, but by this point it seems many people (including myself) are ridiculously cynical about coming updates. Remember the last time we got excited and though they might offer King Abjs in something like a KS or other instanced situation? They just hyped the update to us and then shit on our faces.




Enjoy the game all you like. There's a lot to enjoy in FFXI, but don't make SEs excuses for them. Don't pretend that they run their game smoothly and listen to the playerbase just because they add something we want after 3+ years of complaining.

People try to say that if you make the drop rates better on Northlands dynamis, Kings and other crap that everyone would get their stuff and quit playing the game all together. Well, how is it that WoW has good drop rates, no competition for claims... everyone gets their stuff fast and WoW still has 8 Million subscribers. It's because instead of adding timesinks they add content.



I'd personally say that FFXI has a lot to offer in endgame at first. Dynamis, Limbus, Assault, Salvage, Kings, KS99s etc. However, the drop rates are frustratingly low. Most people continue playing for social reasons and FFXI becomes a glorified version of AIM.


So you have to wonder... why is it that when someone gets everything in FFXI they seem prone to quit, but it seems this isn't as much the case in WoW, or perhaps just their huge playerbase makes it seem less so in terms of numbers.

I won't doubt that there are addicted players, though. It's kinda sad seeing them. However, a lot of "addicted" players aren't 100% addicted since they typically have community as one of the reasons why they still play.
