Now you are being narrow minded.

Bad people do bad things, some are heretics and do it "in the name of God" Nothing in Christianity teaches people to bomb clinics.

We are talking about Christians right? I assume thats what you mean when you say THEY go and kill other humans.

You are narrow minded because not even 0.01% of Christians in the world are deluded enough to think killing abortion doctors is the right thing to do.

There are more girls that like geek guys than people that claim to be Christian and murder abortion doctors.

WTF no sir. THEY refers to the extremists who do the bombing. not all christians. i never associated the extremists with catholics.

when i said they and they, i meant the extremists soley. not christians

In the end, it's a very personal decision whether a person wants to believe or not. As long as a person: Doesn't hurt themselves or others, and ye olde concept of natural laws: ethos & logos. If a person follows it as a rational individual, I'd give a rat's ass if said person worships a rock.

    Thats cool, miscommunication happens.

Anyway, the people bombing abortion clinics are just attention whores. It is an easy way to get on TV and feel important. They don't care about the babies or the doctors, they just want their 10 min of fame and didn't have the looks to get on American Idol.

One person working hard enough could stop a lot of unwanted children in the world without turning the violence if that is what they wanted.. the people blowing up clinics don't give a fuck about any of that much less God.

agreed. they use the name Catholic Extremist as justification to their actions. which are totally unjustified.

This is false. there are no official roman execution records for jesus. Any text that makes reference to jesus or his death shows up at least 7 decades after the alleged event. hearsay is not evidence. If you want to say all the records have been destroyed/lost/stolen, then fine. Otherwise, do some research.

    Sry, I know I'm late.

Edit: Actually come to think of it, I've been harassed by many a Christian "fanatatic" in high school because of what I chose to do. Enrolled in Theater Production? Oh I was going to hell. My best friend is gay? Fuck, I'm damned. So I suppose my disdain carries over.

Of all the pages of rhetoric, no 1 stated the obivious

The JEWS Killed JESUS!!!! (you never know)

South Park/Mel Gibson said so (so it has to be true)

Seriously, Jesus has the Jimmy Hoffa syndrome, or Jimmy Hoffa has the Jesus syndrome (you choose)

No 1 knows where the fuck they are, if anyone does, only Lenoardo Da Vinci can hook us up thru his paintings.. follow the motherfucking clues

[Goes both for Jimmy/Jesus] I'm super cereal.

You do know that talking about the Roman Catholic Church as orthodox is not really true either, right? The entire compilation of the Bible was a giant political struggle for personal gain initiated by a Pagan emperor. There's nothing magical or mystical about it; nor is there anything special about the texts used; they're just whatever faction who wons' additions.

So really, we could have had several other gospels installed; if people hated the Epistles (which aren't very consistent anyway), they might not be included; there's a million avenues that the formulation of the book could have taken.

I don't really have a point, but read some history about the formation of the supposedly god-written text; if that doesn't make you realize you've been lied to, I don't know what will.

have you even read the bible? the contectx of its creation in not important, its the message that it gives which is.

it's a mixed message in general; in one of the gospels they don't even go over the crucifixtion (I don't remember the name; starts with an M).

Of course it's origin is important; not only does it inform us of the inaccuracy both of dates, people, and possibly locations, but also the general veracity of what happened. What if Jesus wasn't like he is in the Bible? how would we know? We have no records of him other than the "meek and mild" lamb who cursed people. Understanding the formation of the Bible, as well as when the parts of the Bible date from is vital in understanding that it really is only a book of concepts, and not really facts to be taken seriously.

veracity is not at stake here, its the moral teachings it imparts imo.

it doesnt matter if it follows the same line or not.

    thats all imo tho

Veracity is important when talking to people about whether the Bible is meant to be taken literally or not, which is the core of most of the questions surrounding fundamentalism. Do you think people would take the Bible completely literally if they knew the letters of Paul where the earliest dated parts of the Bible? It puts the book in perspective, and you are better able to understand inconsistencies in the messages, as well as understand which parts are additions by men later in life who may or may not have had their peoples' best interests at heart.

idt no one thinks the world was created 5k years ago or the garden of eden. Its all just a big metaphor of human reality. Anyway, if youre talking to someone who takes the bible literally, they will most probably wont hear you anyway and claim hearsay.

I'm very impressed that Jimmayus can quote the History Channel specials so well. Impressive.
