SS is a Herald for Galaticus or w/e his name is. Basically he is given a portion of the energy of Galaticus in order to go out and prepare worlds to be devoured by him. Galaticus is also simply a part of the entire Marvel Universe like Eternity or Death, simply a very powerful abstract mutant thing. I'm just recalling all of this from the Wiki I read about it from like a few months ago when that topic on Superman vs Batman was up and it got into a bunch of Marvel/DC/'All those Comic things' arguments. Hmmm what else...

Galaticus > SS but SS decides to go against Galaticus later on eventually and becomes a good guy. I don't remember why exactly but he definetely does defy Galaticus. That is not to say he could ever take on Galaticus, he simply just dissapears and Galaticus isn't about to waste his time chasing down a weak little messenger he appointed to look for worlds for him to eat.

The movie looks pretty badass tho.

Galacticus is like a big universal god-type bad guy who destroys whatever planets he feels like. He has people that work for him that destroy planets, Silver Surfer is one such employee, something about some fight he had on earth makes him re-evaluate his life stance (maybe wrong?) and he turns good, but not really?

Again its been years but he's wicked strong, looks badass, and when I was 8 years old thats all I needed.

The Silver Surfer is Galactus' herald, and he scouts the galaxy looking for worlds suitable for Galactus to devour. The Silver Surfer wields The Power Cosmic, as an extension of Galactus himself.

Tonko is correct, Silver Surfer continuity is horked beyond repair. He is however, one hardcore dude.

Silver Surfer however broke free from galactus right? i remember reading that because of this, he was to stay on earth because anywhere else he would not have his powers anymore.


He's most def one of the strongest characters in the marvel universe.

I never follwed Fantastic 4 or Silver Surfer when i was a little tike, so I dont know how bad/good theyre making these films. But I did enjoy the first one.

For one, there were about 4 different versions of the Silver Surfer, from comic book series to series.

If the SS storyline really is that fked up, then its probably the perfect thing for them to use in the movie. If the fans don't even know whats going on anymore, then theres no way the movies can really get it wrong. It also probably leaves the door wide open for the third movie, assuming that the Silver Surfer revolts at the end of two, and then Galacticus comes to lay down the law in three.

From what I can remember, Galactus doesnt destroy worlds for fun, he needs them to survive, and its said that if he dies the whole world would go into unbalance, SS goes against him because of some woman i think. the whole story line is fucked because galactus has been killed in alternate dimensions and before time (shit like that), he's originally a guy who flew his ship into a black hole thing because they were going to die anyway, there are a bunch of Ultra 1hit kill weapons and people dying and coming back that really fucks it up, I think

then some guys make a gun to separate galactus from his evil side, they succeed and the mortal banishes himself cuz the power cosmic will find him and turn him back which it does.

Silver surfer betrayed Galactus because he met people on earth with good honor and nobility and some hoe, he rebelled to save earth methinks, he aparently turned bad again because the only way the human race would be good is if they combined to fight a foe, which was him they pwnd him with Sidewinder and he went into Loner mode again

I typed this while in the middle of some Kazham party so excuse the bad grammar, sentense structure and all that stuff i'll get flamed for in the next 24 hrs

SS agreed to be Galactus' herald in exchange for his planet not to get eaten. He was always righteous and noble when selecting planets for Galactus to devour by making sure there was absolutely no life forms on these planets. But then the lifeless planets were becoming too few in number so Galactus sealed away some of SS's memories and free will, thus leading him to earth.

Uatu the Watcher warned Reed Richards of Galactus coming to devour earth, and the Fantastic Four got their hands on the Ultimate Nullifier to fight Galactus with. SS met up with a blind girl on earth named Alicia Masters and she convinced him that the earth is worth saving because of the common good of the people living on it. So, SS decides to quit being Galactus' herald and helps the FF drive him away from earth by scaring him off using the Ultimate Nullifier. However, Galactus decides that SS must be punished, takes away some of his power cosmic, and leaves him stranded on earth. There's in invisible barrier that surrounds the earth that Silver Surfer cannot get past. He's stuck on earth for a few years, aside from some fleeting escapes now and then but he always came back for one reason or another. Eventually his exile was ended.

Currently in the Marvel Universe, SS is back as Galactus' herald from the Annihilation comic series.

Silver Surfer wasn't the first herald, and he wasn't the last either. However, Galactus has never given a herald more power than he has ever given SS. He can heal others, change molecular structures of matter, travel at light speed with his board, withstand extreme heat and extreme cold because of his metal skin, and fire cosmic blasts of energy.
