It's not that the questions are hard, it's that you kind of start to second guess yourself. I wouldn't have known that a polar bear is bigger than a grizzley, and I thought the figure for ocean coverage was 75% so I was torn on that question as well.
lmao @ this guy... took him like 4 times realize there was no "the" in the phrase.
Precisely what I was thinking when I watched it. For the last 15 minutes of the show, this was the timeline:Originally Posted by Amarok
Question before -> Commercials -> Show new question -> Commercials -> Ponder/choose answer -> Commercials -> Whether they're right or not -> end.
Also, when the show started, the FIRST thing I thought of was Millionaire. The on-screen layout/sounds/lifelines/everything was like a direct rip for a show better fitted for Disney Channel. And heh @ Fox saying 30 million actively watched the premiere... that was just the PVRs/Tivos/idling TVs/TV Tuner software being minimized that no one bothered to turn off.
SHOW SUCKS!
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think when I see the questions they ask and it's listed up as "2nd grade" level or the like .... and they're things I never learned until high school![]()
I noticed that too, and it was really annoying. It felt like every commerical break was followed by Jeff smiling and another commercial break.Originally Posted by Epical
I still think its fun to watch in a "how can you be so stupid...wait, do I really know the answer" kind of way.
Just shows you how crappy the school system is lol.Originally Posted by Panella
I learned most of that stuff in elementary school. But then I was special and went to a Magnet elementary school, must be the reason why I learned such complex stuff like on this show.Originally Posted by Panella
I got that exact same feeling.Originally Posted by Panella
Anyone ever watch 1 vs 100? There's another shining example of America's stupidity. For example, 54 out of 100 people didn't know what side of a car is perpendicular to the curb when you parallel park.
There were some other really dumb ones, but that one just really stuck out cuz of the immense number of people that got it wrong.
Jay Leno is made of fake and AIDS.A large portion of Americans are idiots. Have you ever seen the Jay Leno skit, "Jaywalking"?
I watched the episode with the woman that said mexico bordered more US land than canada. That was a sad answer. But for the rest of the show, you can't blame people for not knowing something like "how many sides does a trapezoid have?" Because they learned it in second or third grade, and then haven't thought about it for a single second since then. And this woman was at least 35.
Some of the things are common sense, like the US borders question. But others, like the trapezoid question, have just been long forgotten.
I dont think the show will survive if it goes at the pace it has been going at. Amarok is right. It's too slow and they like ask 2 questions and take a break every time. It's ridiculous. I also like how the show brags to be the highest rated show in 8 years..... thats only because its on after american idol....
I hope I am experiencing genuine memory loss before I forget that a trapezoid is a quadrilateral with one set of parallel sides.Originally Posted by Swampthing

Whether you do or you don't doesn't change the fact that the general public doesn't know very much to begin with. And if I had no reason to know the definition of a trapezoid nobody should expect me to.
Just because I learned something 30 years ago doesn't mean I should be able to remember it today. It's not automatic.
Go out into the working word and spend a decade staring at Excel spread sheets. You will be amazed at the genuine memory loss that you suffer.Originally Posted by Eaglestrike
