Just looks like a center meeting point. They just open a door and it allows you to come and go from the door you came in from. Not that hard to understand.

Why would SE make more work for themselves to make that possible? I understand the how.. just not the why. Then again this is SE we are talking about.

I'm not really sure we know what the point is until we see whether or not it actually does allow quick access to/from the cities.

Only city that I would be hyped about would be Al Zhabi anyway.

Pretty much all of these cities can be reached by anyone within about 5-10mins if they have their HP in their Home town and have had a chance to get the right OutPosts. (And for Bastok blm leveled for escape helps too.)

So the only ground breaking thing for me atleast would be 24/7 access to Al Zhabi without having to HP there. (I want to HP in Sandy again.)
    Which I would really appreciate.

I don't get it, what's wrong with HPing in Whitegate and using the teleport NPC to Sandy?

    Silver coins getting expensive?

I don't like being homepointed in Whitegate either. I'd much rather have a way to teleport there without consuming an item slot that also has a 20 hour recast.

Seriously, there should be a teleport crystal at the Leypoint. Make the teleport spell like lv50 or something. I'd level my WHM to 50 for that. Olduum Ring would still be useful for people who don't have WHM at 50.

Yes, because you would be much more pleased with broken content that was shoved out the door to meet the time line.

As a programmer, I know how lazy we are. When you use the term "broken" "bug" or "delay", it usually mean I was browsing youtube instead of actually doing debugging or programming. No one can argue cause no one know shit about programming!

<-- Also not programming as I read and reply to this. Oops

The Internet is a dangerous thing for a company to have. Block it, and your employees lose one of the best tools available and make their employees very cranky. Have it and we surf slashdot or bluegartr, suddenly realizing hours later that we just overshot a deadline.

Maybe if you'd spend 2 hours a week meriting in ToAU areas instead of stealing AV's, silver coins would merely be "100 IS" instead of "gil" ?

It'll be funny if new rank items don't actually suck so bad, and ppl that think of silver coins as "100 IS" kick themselves after seeing the new items. I've personally saved up about 90k IS in the hopes that new items won't suck so bad. Seeing they're (most likey) trying to make some items more accesible in this update, I wouldn't be surprised if new rank items were half decent. Either way, worse comes to worse (more likely) we'll see imp coin prices change with this update depending if the rank items are worth anything.

This is universally true, programmers are not unique.

Because I would rather, by default, have access to my storage along with my safe and locker, and have them not take like a whole minute to actually show any items, nor lag horribly when moving items around. I would also like to HP somewhere where my dbox doesn't have 2 items come in over the course of 30 seconds and then boot me with "communications seem to be congested". Same thing with the dbox near the AH.

It's easy for me to get from Whitegate to everywhere, 5 minutes max, but not easy for me to get from ANYWHERE (that's not like 5 feet from a staging point) to Whitegate, at least not quickly. I can do it reasonably quickly once per day, but what if I want to go there twice in a day? Therefore, I feel a strong need to HP in Whitegate...and so does everyone else. This is lame. HPing there is the only way to reliably return when you want, and it's suckily unique in this respect.

Fine, make us progress in missions or something to get the shortcuts, like with CoP. But please implement them.

What if I'm from bastok because they are always in last place (for my resentment cape), and i want to get to San d'Oria for a leathercrafting test/guild points?

Not to mention, if they do make it possible, just think how much that'd reduce the lag o.O; This could be their solution.

    * We will be making a change to the "World Pass" system. After the maintenance, you will be able to select the designated World for your new characters. For those of who are considering issuing a "World Pass" prior to the maintenance, we recommend that you use the "World Pass" before the maintenance goes into effect. You will still be able to issue a "Gold World Pass" even after the maintenance.

Up until now, Worlds would be randomly assigned to characters upon their creation, while only players with World Passes could join their friends. However, with this new adjustment, all players, even ones without World Passes, will have the option to select their realm at the character selection screen.

Originally, the World Pass system was introduced to maintain a balance among all the Worlds and prevent overpopulation. However, with the continued stablization of each World's adventurer community and recent technical advances in server technology, it has been determined that allowing players to create new characters on Worlds of their choice would not greatly affect the current population balance.

In conjunction with this change, we have updated the character creation screen to include a new pull-down window from which players can select the World of their choice. Also, additional characters added to an account will no longer be automatically assigned to the same World as the first character. Players will be free to choose where they wish that new character to reside, be it the same World, or a completely different one.

Finally, the development team is continuing their work on World selection by making preparations for a new service that will allow players to move their characters to different Worlds. Please keep a close watch on the Topics page for further updates on this exciting feature.

*While all World Passes will become void after March 8, 2007, Gold World Passes will continue to be distributed to players who wish to purchase them. Any adventurers who would like to invite their friends to Vana'diel can still utilize the Gold World Pass feature and take advantage of the special benefits this unique system has to offer.

I've got 70k IS on Nynja atm, and I've been funding all my warptaru fees for both me and my mule from that account. To give you an idea of how much I merit: according to my parse logs, I"ve started my parser in a merit camp 12 times (I say start because I may have restarted it from a lvl up on war, or comparing two pieces of gear), and those total parses occured over 5 days. I dont xp much, far from it. Theres also the straggler IS I get from poping chiggers off marids for my friends, and the occasional besieged skillup IS, but other than that, its not hard at all to collect IS when you're meriting for 20-25k/hr. That's 2-2.5kIS / hr.
