World Passes and such

What SE should have done is left World Passes intact, cranked up the price on them (lets say... 50k-100k gil) and required them to be used to switch between servers.

People would find out its not so easy to get away with shit and simply server hop if they knew someone on a new server would have to shell out that amount of money to get them to pop there. People might even ask questions about people's reputations on their original server to find out if they're worth buying a World Pass for.

I went on the computer expecting information of "new quests" and seeing a sneak peak of Alexander/Odin related stuff.

But now it's going to be stupid having "Gold" World Passes without regular world passes. Or maybe they are gonna do that, Jeryhn, but they don't want people having cheap, valid passes before it happens.

Because normal world pass prices are based on server population, whereas the Gold World Pass only works with new subscribers. They want new subscribers so they're going to make it an appealing option. So whatever limited space Cerberus had left, they'd rather it be filled with new paying subscribers than someone who made a mule for $1/month.

It would be interesting if they allowed people to server hop at will. At first you would have lots of people taking advantage of the arbitrage opportunities where they would buy something on one server and sell it on another server a few minutes later for way more gil. Eventually you'd see the server economies start balancing out to where they were all virtually identical.

I think it would be pretty neat though to just be able to hop over to another server to party with someone you always argue with on a forum about who would parse higher, then go back to your normal server. Or, as an LS, you could start tracking ToDs of HNMs across all servers and the whole LS could just hop over to another server to camp, and then hop back.

I know they won't make it an at-will hopping system like that, but it's fun to think about the reprecussions of what would happen if they did, lol.

According to SE it's because they overhauled the billing info system recently.

Le sigh, first thing Feiwong/Godraiden/whatever the fuck his name is is bring whatever character he's on now wherever he is back to Odin to exact his lolrevenge.

And this isn't so game-breaking as people think, imo. I'm not sure the server switching is anything game breaking on WoW (granted it's not exactly hard to get another character to 60/70 either), but where this game is more community oriented than I ever ever felt WoW was, people have really made their server their home, really have their friends around them... it'll be interesting to see, in any case.

i dont think people would be 'that stupid' to buy things on their own world for 1.5mil if you can go somewhere else and get it for 800k.. so i doubt the whole 'switching severs to make a profit' will work because if the buyer is smart they'd switch servers too ^^
