I just wonder if it will be a full service world shift built into the game environment.

e.g. your party goes to garlaige and finds it overcrowded, so you go "hey guys, let's check out Kujata's Garlaige", then you use Teleport-Kujata and a few seconds later your party re-zones in place (as if you had tractor cast on you) standing exactly where you were a moment ago, only on Kujata now. "Nope, still crowded, how about Lakshmi?"

Meanwhile, any items you have on the AH are still on the AH in your previous world, and when they sell, they will be delivered to your box regardless of where you are. I could put an item on sale on Pandemonium, then teleport over to Bahamut and place another item on sale, and then teleport over to Asura to LFG, and at some point my item on Pandemonium sells and I check my MH in Asura and pick up the money.

It wont be like that. Nearly guaranteed that it will be once a year or twice a year. And it's most likely going to be done out of the game where you can have contact support to have it done.

my guess once per version update. Switching servers to try and make a profit is stupid because then you get stuck in their economy until you can switch back if they allow that.

There will be no economic problems. Initially, yes, there may be some vast fluctuations due to the arbitrage that occurs with an open economy. In no time though the law of one price (the idea that in a perfectly efficient, open economy one item shall have one price) will stabilize things. It really isn't anything to worry about. What you do have to worry about though is the rampant ninja-lotting that is going to occur. Due to the fact that you can easily change your name now (make a mule on the target server with your current name, when you change to that server they'll ask you to rename) it will be hard to track the whereabouts of users.

I skimmed this, so pardon if I missed this already being stated, but please, FSM... No. Let the RMT assholes choose which server they have the least influence on, and make adjustments as needed? Fork that. On Titan we pretty much have the short bus RMTs, and as bad as they piss me off, I do not wish to have to deal with the same situation as Bahamut or Asura. Please, FSM in the name of all that is noodly, this cannot happen.

Think about it, do you really want servers like remora leaking out into every other server? The game's community will turn into WoW, people looking for loot then jumping ship.

Or people just want opportunity. I want to do Vrtra, Timmy, Jorgy, Jailer of Love and stuff like that. But I would like to start a new existence where I could enjoy FFXI to the fullest. The endgame scene on my server sucks, and I could agree with Naramaska fully about that.

I bet people will have to pay a service fee of $25 or $50 to prevent abuse of the process. and perhaps people would be restricted from doing this once a year.

I ain't moving off asura unless a core of my friends move too. But I like how asura is, my time schedules for dyna and such are fine, and there's only 1 JP ls that camps kings, actually they are half JP half NA scum that can't get accepted into any other LS and have a massive turnover rate due to them openly botting and getting caught.

Also names can be an issue. But i think Se will just charge ingame money to transfer servers like buying a pass 100k for one move 1mil for 10 moves.
