News from... Zam! (don't ban the messenger)

Admit it, we all go there sometimes, if only for a chuckle or to practice our disdain for the e-serfs. They had some new stuff on the front page though, with more to follow from their own interviews.

We have just arrived back at the hotel room after an amazing day touring the Los Angeles Square-Enix office location! Most of the visit consisted of "oooo"s and "aaaaah"s as we were floored with the all of the visuals and inner workings of the founders of the game we've all grown to love.

We will provide a full write up of the trip after we return home, but we were too excited to wait to tell you all of the juiceir portions of the meeting, particularly a special announcement made by Sage Sundi at the conclusion of the meeting.

They plan to make the PC version of Final Fantasy 11 windowable. Yes. You heard it here first!

The windowed version has been approved by the higher ups. Soon enough, we shall hear a formal announement and receive more information regarding this feature! For now, we speculate that this will be done via a future patch update.

Also, we mentioned to them how the drop rate for certain end-game items are particularly difficult. The whole team seemed very interested in our feedback (well, your feedback!) regarding this. Sage Sundi himself mentioning that we should expect a change in drop rate in the future as they evaluate that which was discussed. (More details and pictures later!)

So official windower. Way too late obviously, and I doubt it will have some of the useful added functionality of the 'real' thing that we've all come to integrate so fully into our own game, which in a way makes this news more troublesome than appreciated. It could mean crackdowns on the non-official windower, but I'll save my paranoia for the full details.

And 'expect a change in droprate' in regards to 'certain end-game items'. Judging from the interviewers (Zam) and the interviewee (Sundi) I am not compelled to expect relevant changes. Lets see if they can penetrate the tremendous wall of cynicism that they have let build up since CoP.

We use to explain the reason why we didn't support windower...but, we
understand this is very important to our players, and now we are eagerly
looking in to the possibility (seriously) Smile

If they do, you should consider releasing the email address since they should have answered the questions you sent months ago.

-Leaping Lizzie and Valkurm Emperor will now drop 100%
-Genbu will drop W.Feet & Genbu's Shield 100% now as well

I doubt it will affect any drops from Kings. At most I see sky drops being affected.

If the level of quality on the windower is anything like the level of the programming quality of FFXI, I'd assume everyone would still use the current version, not the SE version. SE has to prove that it is capable (lol) of producing a superior product against what everyone currently uses. I know I sure as fuck wouldn't switch to an inferior product just because SE wanted you to have it's shiny logo on their piece of shit product. Not to mention you probably won't even see this for another 6 months.
