tactics.
I voted FFXI because of its world. V and IX are right behind it, then Tactics and VIII because of their storyline. IV might come right behind those 2. TA had a nice moral. You have to give some respect to the first 3. I feel VI and VII are overrated, and XII in a way. X was too linear, but the story was great. X-2 lacked epicness, but was fun to play.
All-in-all, they're all great.
Six, because I don't think any villian could ever top Kefka.
I loved Tactics to death and I started with FF1 so I have strong feelings for both those games, but nothing could ever top FFVI for me D:
I started with FFVII and played every other FF game except that gay-shit FFXI-2. Atm, it's a tie between FFVII and IX. I loved everything about those two games.
Tactics because if you made it past the third fight you were introduced to one of the best storylines ever.
started with FFI and have played all of the sequential games. never really got into Tactics(que the omgwtf's). By far my favorite was FFVIII i actually loved the story and the development of the characters throughout.
the worst of the series was IX by far, i had to force myself to play it just so i didnt feel like i wasted the $45 on it. and yeah going online to find the little hints.... hated it with a passion.
VII was fun and all the side quests/mini games were fun as hell.
X's redeaming value was Blitzball loved that game. the thing i hated most about X was the camera constantly moving around without having any control over it drove me nuts.
lolX-I
FF5.
I don't see how you can say that IX is the worst of the series, since it more closely resembles the majority of the series as a whole than any FF from VII forward.
Ignoring X-2, I'd have to say 'worst' FF title goes to X. It's still a good game, but the linearity is sickening; the whole game is on rails. I've gone back to replay every game in the series except X, just because the game felt more like a series of stages than an adventure quest.
Everyone who can lock down their ADHD enough to have the patience to play FFT loves it. I'd probably put it at the top of the whole FF pile, but since it wasn't in the poll I chose another.
FF9.
1 word. Kuja.
EDIT: You said 9 is the worst in the series? What the hell were you sniffing when you were playing it and WHERE CAN I GET SOME?
What parts of 9 didnt you like?Originally Posted by Reggie_Asura

I didnt like the characters and the story was really corny. i just could never really get into it like i do with most of the others.
The story was way better than 8's... "oo look at me, i'm a sorceress and i'm walking funny lawlz".
I dunno how anyone could stand Squall's bitching for 4 CDs...
IV, Palom and Rydia just made that game so damn memorable for me.
I started playing with one, although I was very young and don't remember much of my first experiences. I loved FF4, with the story and character development, although 6 and 9 were very close as well.
If i recall the whole idea with 9 was that it was going to be the last FF for the PSone and they wanted to go back to their roots after making 7 & 8, and to me it seems that they did a very good job of doing that. I found that in 8 and 10 that the characters and storyline was very superficial/artificial and that it did not have enough depth to really get into liking the characters beyond picking out 'who was the coolest.' I liked the story in 7, but I found that the character development of the protagonists sucked, especially when they put so much life into the supporting characters. I loved Don Corneo, the Turks, Priscilla, and the people who ran Shinra Inc. but your party was so shallow it was lame that they couldn't do better for them.
FFVIII was one of the decent FF games, imo. I hated how you acquired some JAs and spells.
I wouldnt call the "cartoony" style a lower quality at all tbh...Originally Posted by Reggie_Asura
You must be joking about the quality of cutscenes in FFIX, they were far superior to 7 and 8. I feel its simply because they learned how to push the PS1's capabilites further.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUYilAvPQRU This is an AMV with a mix of FFIXs cutscenes, the battle between Bahamut and Alexander looks good even to this day, I think.
I only played FFT on playstation, then Disgaea came out so I quit it because that was more fun. I understand that they changed quite a bit of it when they ported it to gameboy though, although it sounds like the rule system they implemneted for it could have gotten rather frustrating, I don't know if they improved the speed or anything else
I've played 7 through 12 and I'd rank them as the following:
1. VII
2. IX (tie)
2. XII (tie)
4. X
5. VIII
6. IX
7. X-2
Just because the "fanboys" love FF7 doesn't mean it isn't a good game. I personally enjoyed every second of playing it. There's no level grinds, no real frustrating parts, a good villain, and a fun magic system (I love getting new materia and mixing and matching). It's just a real fun experience. Great and memorable music too. And of course it has probably the most memorable moment in the recent FFs (regardless of whether you hate it or not).
IX's characters are the most memorable of every FF I've played, nothing comes close. The world is cool too - I love the music. XII ties with it because XII is incredibly fun to play, great and huge zones. The plot is really good until it gets unfocused at the end.
X and VIII both struggle in their own ways. X doesn't really allow you to go venture out on your own until the very end - it is VERY linear. VIII's draw system was very frustrating, and Ultimecia was a lame bad guy. Though I would say that XIII's music edges out VII and IX's for the best of all the FF's I've played.
XI isn't really an FF in my opinion. But it did capture my attention for a year.
X-2 isn't really that bad but it has more problems than the rest I played.
I've never had a chance to play any of the earlier games... I'm sure 6 was great and I'd love it if I ever played.
Yes! I agree 100%, I hate fags who try and seem like there better than everyone else because they didnt like FF7. Come on guys....SEPHIROTH!!!! The badass of badasses.Originally Posted by BarthelloSylph
