They never ported it to gameboy, they made another tactics for GBA.

Its pretty hard to choose an order of which FF games you like, because MOST of the FF games are all very well done and enjoyable to play in their own way, although I couldn't fucking stand X-2. I tried putting up with it for like 5 hours of playing and couldn't take it anymore. I'm just not a 12 year old girl at heart like the people that enjoy playing it, I guess.

My personal favorite is Final Fantasy Tactics. I wouldn't say it has outstanding story, but its pretty good. Especially when considering FFT advance...that shit was pretty lame. I don't know what made the 2nd one worse, the shitty story or rules and the yellow and red cards you'd get with them..

But yeah, so many things to FFT made it outstanding. The job system used again, which I love. The strategy used, the customization of what you can learn and abilities equiped, but most of all, the challenge the game offered.

Final Fantasy VIII is my 2nd favorite FF game, so I'm voting that since tactics isn't an option. I don't know why there are so haters-this game is amazing.. the graphics are stunning for its time. I loved the card game and all of the sidequests. People that call Squall a panzy and shit need to get their heads examined too. It was nice how they showed his thoughts and stuff;an extra perspective of what the character is facing and dealing with. I also loved the story and the GF learning system too.

Final Fantasy VII would come in 3rd for me, although I almost tied it with 8. I put it at third though, because although it had an outstanding, confusing story, I didn't feel there was enough of a challenge until the weapons, which you pretty much face after you already beat the game, and at that point, I didn't really feel motivated to beat them to get mediocre rewards to be used on no new game content. Don't get me wrong though-the story, materia system and battle system was enough to rank it as my 3rd favorite ff though.

Final Fantasy X came in 4th for me. It was hard not to rank this higher, but the sphere system made that impossible. I hated the sphere grid system. The path is already made for you pretty much-why not just have real lvls? There wasn't a real sense of customization like the previous FFs I listed, which is a big deal for me. I loved just about every other thing about this game though. The graphics, battle system, and especially the voice acting made the game amazing. I loved the story for the most part, but I hated the ending... SPOILERS where he just disapears and hes been made up the whole time-I thought that was extremely retarded.

All of the other FFs I don't think are really worth mentioning. I'm not saying they aren't good, just not as good as these 4.

However, I would have said FFXI is my favorite, but I don't feel that should be included with the rest since the community of the game is a big part of what makes it so great.

For me it's FF6 hands down. It just had more, better, everything. Honorable mention for FFTactics.

I'm guessing because it was because it didn't have the 'free' overworld thing( is my guess) also didn't mystic quest breed the Mana series? or was it the gameboy adventures.

I know a lot of people dislike Mystic Quest. But for me it was actually my gateway FF when i got it as a gift as a kid. After that I played 5 and was hooked. As a pure FF it's not great, but as a beginners RPG it's well done.

sorry, I did mean gameboy advance, I have a tendancy to refer to the whole gameboy product line as 'gameboy.' How different are the two FFT aside from the rules system? I had read reviews when it had come out to the affect that they are very similar, so I never looked into it.

I loved Mystic quest, I really liked the gameplay and the different weapon type functionalities.

Order for me would be something like...

    1. FF6
    2. FFT
    3. FF7
    4. the rest

Also I gotta give a shout out to the Final Fantasy Legends series, lord those games were awful lol.

Somebody above mentioned that every FF has at least one "problem," and I completely agree.

I enjoyed playing them all at the time, but in retrospect, I loved 9. The characters were great and unique, music was awesome and the fights were challenging. Every character was unique in battle and I loved having a 4 person party again.

8 Annoyed me, drawing always put me in a downer because it'd take ages, it's bareable when you can draw 9 each time but still, for really hardcore encounters who wants to draw? The story was lame and the characters lamer, but what I hated most was the arch villian, she didn't even HAVE a reason for time "kompression", at least a reason I remember or was in the least a little viable. It seemed like the whole 4th disc was just tacked on and the story jumped from "huh" to "wat?"

I liked 7, mainly for it was the first FF I played, I was young and despite it's flaws nostalgia still keeps this game high in my books.

10, I liked more then most people, although linear it had such a good atmosphere that most games don't have, story was decent but pretty lackluster. But what I loved most of all was how challenging the secret bosses were, Dark Aeons, Penence and the monster arena monsters owned.

6, I thought was good, although I played it too late to fully appreciate it.

Tactics, well, I loved Disgeae first =X

FF8's story, lame? it's probably the deepest and most complex out of the PS series where you can speculate more than any of the other FFs

also the "kompression" villain i think is supposed to make her sound russian or something

    FFVI.

No matter how many times I play this game, it never gets old to me and I enjoy every hour of it.

FFXI probably comes in second or third just because I'm still addicted to it. Damn MMORPGs.

Final Fantasy VIII is at the top of my list. There were a few memorable scenes and like mentioned before, the story allowed for a lot of speculation. If anything, this was the only FF that I wouldn't have minded a sequel/prequel but more so to go further into Laguna's story. And I thought Laguna and co.'s battle music was better than Squall and co.'s.

I started off with FFVII, going back to the older ones after that, but I don't hold it so high. Squall was "emo" in his inferiority complex to Seifer, at first, when it came to Rinoa but Cloud was just a fucking nut.

Tactics and VI is up there too with being an amazing game. IX is probably the only game I only played once through and am pissed off that my brother sold off. I'd like to play it again but I thought that Kuya as the final boss just came out of no where really.

    I didn't find Tactics Advanced as bad as everyone else. I liked the guy in the pink (name began with a L I believe). He was a pimp <.<;

Also, despite XI's faults, especially with CoP, I found the CoP story one of the best there was. I found myself rewatching those CSs quite a bit before I quit the game. If only they reproduced XI as an offline game

when it was revealed that all the characters grew up together but "forgot" for more than half the game, i think the word "lame" is pretty accurate.

FF9 had the best character development IMO. FF8 was good until halfway like layoneil said... then it just became stupid with the whole "we forgot cuz we use GFs lawl".

FFX was plain stupid, FF12 was boring until Pharos, and FF7's story still holds the #2 slot for me since I think FF9 was better than it, even though 7 was revolutionary for its time.

FF9>7>8>12>10 For me (as far as the 3D FFs are concerned.)
