not really since BW drain is based on your melee damage and doesnt count as extra damage
en-drain would be static damage and would actually add more damage (say 10-15 per swing)

maining drk like as in being 75 DRK/whatever sub not /drk. . .Originally Posted by Jeryhn

There was a shortlived discussion about this earlier. I thought it was worth a shot with these new spells to try but the consensus was basically if you don't have shadows then you aren't a tank because DEF tanking is for people that watch My Little Pony and read Archie.Originally Posted by LinktheDeme
Any DRK that try to tank like this let us know how it works though :D
Well no one knows really how dread spikes will work way is i see it itll be a decent %age maybe 30% just stack this with -phys dmg gear and it shouldnt be that bad. People still use /war on pld and it works fair enough to kill any mob in game (except AV but hes like unkillable atm) I'd see this kinda like tanking /war since drk will get an HP bonus among -% dmg just do /pld for sentinel and itll be close to pld/war at least in my opinionOriginally Posted by MF Perm
I've already been trying to play drk as a tank, DRK/NIN is an ok tank on mobs that are high level enough. I didnt tank many things as i dont ask my ls to let me tank stuff but im always /nin waiting for the tanks to die somehow :X
depending on how potent dread spikes is, I think it will be useful on mobs that spam AOEs that wipe shadows (impact stream from ix'drk comes to mind) spikes can keep the drk alive w/o needing the mages to cure spam them till they get shadows up.
Yeah... I'm gonna go ahead and guess that Drain II won't be as strong as Drain, seeing that Drain is already very potent if geared right and using the Phalanx/Phalanx II as comparison.
I'd be surprised if Drain II could do more than 300, because then that's just overpowering.
Again, what's with the job adjustments for jobs that have already been adjusted and improved so many times in the past few updates, and that nobody's complaining about anymore? Give the other jobs that haven't been touched (and some of them are *still* waiting to be fixed) some attention.![]()
Except for the fact that there's a cap on the amount of HP the Spikes can drain, and it has a 3-minute recast. This doesn't put it anywhere close to the realm of shadow tanking (or even the new Sentinel/Rampart tanking).Originally Posted by LinktheDeme

cap is unknown at the moment so everything is in potential talk atm. Can't say right off the bat it wont put it near shadow(odds are nothing can really come close to shadow).Originally Posted by Jeryhn
idk i just dont like how ppl say drk is weak when it comes to invites then whine about every boost we get and say we're overpowered.Originally Posted by Jeryhn
Who ever said DRK was overpowered in this entire discussion lol
not this one but they're saying drk doesnt need this update, kinda like they did when we got abs-TP then after a while started complaining and complaining and it ended up getting nerfed
The fact that they mentioned there's a cap on a buff that only lasts for one minute probably means that the cap will be quite easily reached within that one minute. I can only see this spell draining like 200-250 HP max, and I'm probably being generous knowing SE.Originally Posted by LinktheDeme
The only job more versatile than a BLM is an RDM. I don't feel particulary sorry for BLMs because merit parties don't want them. A BLM can get into any endgame LS and most of the time, an event can be made or broken based off of how many BLMs you have on staff at any given time.Originally Posted by Sifer
So, lets say Drain II caps at 500 with Dark Seal Merits...
I wonder what will happen? >_>
I remember reading some time ago that WHM were going to be given Cure VI and Hastega.
No sign of these yet ><
Typical
DRK will be able to use SE alot more often is what will happen.Originally Posted by Sho
they don't need this update because nobody cares about drks. only tanks, support mages, smns, and blms deserve boosts because they're the only jobs people care about.Originally Posted by Sifer

that was exactly my point, if blm was all that then drk does deserve an update.Originally Posted by Jeryhn
anyway, im excited about this one and it did say that damage drained corresponds to damage taken, i'd be happy w/ 50%, 75%, 90% or 100% seeing as it has a cap but maybe im greedy >_>
EDIT:my spelling sucks today
