The general gist of the conversation is that a linkshell is pissed off about something (I couldn't find the specific reason in any of those screenshots). The GM is basically shooting the breeze with them, and saying that the linkshell's leaders are overly impulsive and should calm down.
It's basically just chat, really. Nothing of really significant importance (except perhaps whatever the "reason" is).

NA/FR/GE GM hiring is outsourced by SOE to an HR firm named The Eastridge Group in Carlsbad, CA. The HR firm asks questions about your experience with the FFXI, but it seemed more like they wanted to know that you have knowledge of MMORPGs in general than FFXI specifically.its not a rumor, NA gms are hired by Sony Online Entertainment [SoE] JPs = SE.
When I applied to the French GM position, the passage they had me translate from English to French (and vice versa) was stolen straight from EQ. Because I didn't know wtf a "waypoint" was (or whatever it was called), I actually had to look up information on EQ websites to understand what the references in the passage meant in English, much less in French.
Bottom line, SE outsourced NA hiring to SOE who outsourced hiring to an HR firm who has no clue about FFXI, which is why you see really shitty and ineffective NA GMs.

Please explain this then. Maybe the hiring process is outsourced, but the gm's work in SE's building.Originally Posted by Qbertian
Yes, you are correct. The actual GM office where they go to work is located in Los Angeles less than a mile or so from LAX (right near the coast) and is (to my knowledge) an SE or SOE building.
My point was that since SOE and SE have no direct input on the hiring process (they probably reserve the right for the final say, of course), the HR firm hires unqualified candidates for the job. And by unqualified I mean lacking in fundamental understanding (and experience) of the current state of FFXI. To the HR firm, myself and Wafik may look similar on paper, but which would you rather have as a GM? (*Hint: If you pick me, gtfo.*)

I knew it. That conversation was damn looked damn casual, to have lasted almost an hour like that.Originally Posted by Murataki

Plus, why train someone on how to play the game when you have thousands of people training themselves forty hours a week for free by playing it?

Seems to be a lack of proper training to me, but anyway...Originally Posted by Qbertian
