I itched more when I was only trimming. Sometimes in the summer at night I get heat itches ( not rash ) down there, but nothing a little Gold Bond doesn't cure.

Man, unless you know what the hell you're doing, you DO NOT NEED TO SHAVE IT ALL OFF. I lol at people who are like "hey, I don't get any to start with, but lets shave EVERYTHING and see what happens!" You can leave a little "fuzz" on there, and it's all good (helps a lot with the itching). I don't know if it was just the girl I was with, or if it's with all girls, but she didn't mind it not being as smooth as a babies bottom (now, when I say "it", I don't mean your balls. Those have to be smooth. I'm referring to your groin area/above Mr. Flotsam Jones©/area between your balls and asshole) everywhere. Think of the surface of a tennis ball... something like that.

After the first few times the itching and red bumps will go away as long as you use a moisturizing shaving cream(not men's face cream, shit is terrible for you, use the women's cream, men's face cream will dry your skin out so fast,) and apply astringent(such as witch hazel) after you shave.

That being said, there's nothing wrong with a complete trim, use the electric to trim down the skin and use a women's razor and shaving cream to get your thighs/balls/etc. Works fine for me.

Like the dude above said, use Goldbond. Happened to me too, and fking itching wouldn't stop. I don't shave all of it though (trim the front area), don't wanna look like a porn star either ;x

and I'm surprised nobody has mentioned waxing.. women do it for pretty much every party of their body and male-specific waxing IS increasingly commonplace.

Options:

Shaving: straighforward, trim first and shave carefully after, requires constant upkeep

Depilatory (aka Nair): works but can be irritating and that's NOT an area I would imagine would feel good inflammed

Waxing: last the longest and will have the fewest problems with itching etc. but is the most painful and you need to be sure it's done by someone who know what they're doing.

Personally I don't mind guys with hair down there, doesn't bother me either way but whatever feels good for you/your partner ^^

Despite what you might think, the scrotum's skin is some of the thickest and toughest in the body. Its scary the first time, but once you do it once you realize how easy and safe it is. I'm more scared of shaving near my lip these days(I have a mole under my nose, than when cut will bleed for over 24hrs) than my balls.

I do. The key is to trim it up first to make sure it isn't so long. After you do that a shower and make sure to loosen up the skin. After that take a bit of shaving cream and spread it on and shave away.

It will ich if you haven't shaved before, but just keep with it and in about 2-3 weeks it should be gone.
