We believe that because these powerful monsters dwell deep inside dungeons, players fear them more and the dropped items resulting from defeat of said monsters have added value because they are difficult to obtain.
Ummmmmm... are these people on drugs??? If anything they should INCREASE the difficulty of the three Zilart kings... I don't think hundreds of people would camp these NMs daily if they were in any way scared. True, kings drops are difficult to obtain, but that isn't because of the difficulty of the encounter or the dungeon, it's because of the difficulty to claim said mobs. Seriously, my two year old nefew isn't this oblivious.
I'm going to guess that that completely retarded response was due to translation errors... we say we want an easier way to fight these mobs rather than hoping we can outclaim 200 bots, they think we mean we want the fights to be easier.

I just left it open because they didn't confirm that the new assault zone will for sure drop Zilart stuff. I think it will though.

    "Powerful monsters" lol

Edit: The hint at increasing sea drop rates has me excited; I was never interested in sea because the drop rates were horrid. Sucks for people who spent a lot of time there already though.

Same could be said about 3 kings and anyone who spent a lot of time camping those (like me), if the new assault does indeed drop old items. Would the original monsters remain unchanged? Kinda interesting but almost worthless to me since only thing I don't have yet that I want from kings is Ridill ><.

At least they accept theres a problem with Ullikumi >.> last I heard, they were deluding themselves into thinking making it pop from all statues instead of just two actually fixed the situation.

Rest is all pretty lame, unless of course they are serious about adding "Ridill level" weaponry/items for other jobs.

EDIT: LOL at the nub on ffxionline forums. He has quite possibly the worst Ranger 75 I have ever seen.

actually...they changed it such that it now pops from one stat. It's random where it spawns but it's one stat. Every 16min the placeholder pops. They changed it so instead of camping the 2 stats in the middle of the room you, theoretically, have to camp the whole room.

Yah, there's one more statue in the room than there used to be before the change. That would be the PH, and it spawns pretty much anywhere.

It seems like they alluded to say that Hauteclaire was the "Ridill" for PLD's, and I'd say comparing drop rates, it's probably close; but in terms of usefulness, it isn't groundbreaking for PLD's as Ridill is for WAR. Hauteclaire should have been -7% damage taken and Enmity+4-5 to be at the level of Ridill so that it's the clearcut best for PLD tanks. As it stands now, it's just a situational piece at best; especially considering the majority of mobs are blink-tanked anyway. I think there's only 1 person in my LS who even wants it, and it's because he has a d.ring already..

Is Seveneyes the Ridill for mages?! lol...

In all seriousness though, thanks for getting these answers Bercus, despite SE slacking with timely answers.

Edit: The Ulli response is a complete joke.. like they couldn't tell there was a problem with it before? They're so out of touch with their playerbase... it's fucking sad.

Also, if they think 3 kings are "powerful" monsters, I'd wonder what they'd think about Vrtra. Cue up the 1.5minute Vrtra movie for them..

Ok so .. I appreciate the effort you guys put into going about interviewing them... but.. this really provides absolutely nothing to us... as said earlier.. it's just them dancing around and not caring about old content.. they don't understand the game they designed from an HNM POV..

Why can't tiamat/jorm/vrtra DROP monarch's orbs to get to bahamut.. why can't they drop abjuration? I'm sorry but fafnir is pathetic.. I think abjurations should be on the rare scale of items in the game.. and what LS really can't kill nidhogg? it's a joke.. Beef up fafnir, beef up nidhogg, kb.. aspi I suppose.. maybe make the adds at aspi harder IDK.. I just think it's pathetic that once an NM is claimed it's basically dead and rarely do you get a chance at it from an LS wiping. This has all been covered before.. I know most people from the hnm world see it this way too.

The main aspects we consider when we introduce a new item to the game, are both the properties of the item and the difficulty balance to obtain it. The idea is to adjust the difficulty so that you obtain a better item depending on how much effort you had to put into obtaining it.
O rly? So then by that logic Jormungand, Vrtra, and Tiamat drop some of the most awesome gear in the game. Amirite?

    Jormungand - Level 95
    Mercurial Pole ( >.> )

    Vrtra - Level 95
    Mercurial Sword (vs. Ridill?)
    Reviler's Helm (lol)

    Tiamat - Level 95
Herald's Gaiters (ok granted those are nice, but their utility in fights is negliglble.)
    Noritsune Kote (meh)

These guys are a hell of a lot harder than Faf, and their drops are nowhere near as nice. So, what was that about difficulty being used to gauge drop rates, SE? Maybe they meant difficulty in out-claiming botting linkshells.

I also do not understand why they want to spend time focusing on new content, as opposed to fixing older content that people still thoroughly enjoy. Instead they'd rather gamble with adding new activities that has been hit or miss.

-7% damage taken would have been nice.. instead of only physical.. but the Templar mace would still be the superior weapon.. I don't understand how 90% of the paladins here focus on enmity.. it's ignorant. the hate generated from 10% more curing power is soooo superior over enmity.. I think I wear at tops maybe 11 enmity in gear.. and have 4 in merits.. hate is never an issue even during a 26 minute tiamat, or 3.5 hour jorm(6 person .. not 18.. we aren't that slow heh)..

I really think they need to read these replies before they start acting like they know what we want.

That or Bercus sending them essentially a "f*ck you" email that shows various copy pastes of our opinions.

After that if they don't get their act together, yeah, fuck this. They lose what minimal crap-stepping respect they had gained. FOR GOOD D:. I would compare SE's blind volition for their own beliefs to be nearly as bad as a group of damned Scientologists for something. How could they have the nuts to actually scold us for ridill and claim we should like "flavorful" (sh!t) like the dyn tav drops. Most ridiculous reaction to a fanbase ever.

The real problem with the replies to these questions is that it shows how stuck the developers are into thinking what kind of game they think they're designing, as opposed to the actual game they're designing.

That's ultimately what's disappointing. Yet, I don't think anyone can really be surprised either with the answers. Something we've all known for a long time is that the developers are simply out of touch with its playerbase. The fact that they have waited so long to repair Ullikummi (for a second time!) shows this. Of course, their "fix" might just be to make Ullikummi not always drop the Autumnstone, so...

Any playerbase for an MMO will have its fair share of people who whine and complain, and it is unreasonable for the developers to take every suggestion they have seriously. However, when the developers time and time again refuse to listen to what smart, intelligent players want (as opposed to the fucknut rejects on ZAM!), and go so far as to punish them instead, then it does leave a lot of people bitter, cynical and jaded.

Not looking to derail, add cure potency +5-10% to it if you want; point still stands that it should be groundbreaking not situational (A step-up, as opposed to a side-step), considering its drop rate and the fact that it has its own HNM. (For some reason I thought of Hydra, nfc why that shit is in the game to this day)
