Sorry, but that's what I read. I complain about the complainers because they seem to usually only see a very small picture and lack the ability to see the game as a whole.

And holy shit, you're complaining about the complainers who complain about people complaining. What does that make you?

Just woke up and read the interview. I really don't have much to say, except I'm quite disappointed in the responses from SE. I really do love this game, but responses like that really give my motivation to play a hit.

Bitching won't help. People have complained for the last 3 years and it hasn't done much. I'm not sure why you think it will now or why we really want to read the same bitching over and over and over and over again.

If you really hate the game this much then quit. Some people are acting like druggies who can't quit, or people who stay married even though they hate each other. You can end your relationship with FFXI anytime you want but instead you choose to stay and hate it.

I'm not responding because I think this is directed at me, rather I'm responding because I felt the need to explain something about this game. Yes, it is a game. However, the multiplayer aspect of it and persistent world extend it beyond "just a game" and make it a community driven environment. That being said, friendships and acquaintances are built and that's really a big reason for many people to look past the problems the game has. Like I said in my post, there's still a lot of fun activities I still enjoy to this day. However I'll never just roll over and be complacent when it comes to SE's incompetence in handling issues that FFXI has.

I'm pretty sure that those who complain loudest about the faults they find in the game have perfectly valid reasons to continue playing. If they didn't they would have quit a long time ago.

Square has always seemed out of touch with its playerbase, and the interview just reconfirmed it. Counter-bitching, that is, complaining that people are unhappy, is far worse than the actual bitching. If people are unhappy with the interview, they have every right to call out the problems with it.

My problem is when people attack a person for attacking something. You aren't arguing that what Square said was good, you're arguing that people shouldn't say anything bad, and thats fucked up. This entire interview, along with these forums, are dedicated to trying to discuss endgame and the problems with it. Apathy isn't very constructive when everyone can agree theres a problem. Is bitching the best solution? No, but I'd say 50% of what goes on is bitching and the other 50% is constructive criticism, but most people can't tell the difference anymore.

I think the interview, even though it took 4 months to get vague answers to a dozen questions, is a step in the right direction. But I don't think its without fault and anyone who suggests "complaining is wrong" needs to grow up.

I'm more or less going for saying "I wish they would've said more about <blank>. Still, they said they have plans for fixing Sea NM pops/drops which is kinda cool" instead of "wow this was fucking pointless and I hate this fucking game and I'm tired of this shit." The Sea thing and the confirmation for alternatives to getting Zilart gear is pretty cool info, and there's proof that they're at least aware of some of our other concerns (windower, ulli, etc).

The important thing to realize here is though it's annoying as hell to have people complaining about your complaint, it's just a way of expressing their opposing viewpoint, just like your complaint is just a way of expressing 'I think X should be like Y'.

I'm not telling people to quit, but I am saying that people should wake up and realize that these PR fuckfaces have been shoveling the same pile of bullshit under people's noses for what, 2-3 years now? I think it'd just be easier on everyone to not expect anything, this way when something good does come along, it'll make people happy.

Ironically, this is my mantra for life- If you have no/low expectations, you'll never be disappointed.

I still enjoy this game, but I'm not blind to its flaws. Rewards are based on luck, rather than effort put in or skill (not counting Assault gear). Look at the Khimaira thread, there's a LS that killed like 19 Khimairas and didn't get 1 sword, while another LS comes and gets it on their first kill. It's far from a fair system. I know I'd be pretty pissed off if I was in that LS who got the 19 kills with no drop, and then watched another LS get MORE reward for 1/19th the effort heh.

My LS only camps Faf/Nid for the most part, so the HNM system doesn't bug me that much, but I know it's flawed. I would have probably lost my mind already if I was camping all 3 kings, Tiamat and Khimaira nonstop.

Hey, I'm not saying I agree with the quote, it came off the site for the "complaint free world" bit. I kinda giggled at the story myself today watching it. Even a psychiatrist in the story said she didn't think never complaining was very healthy. I think it's perfectly normal to express frustration. It's people who complain constantly without doing anything about it ever that get annoying.

Actually the important part of that quote IMO is how we should change ourselves when we can't truly change something. Your preferences are not as set in stone as you think they are, good is relative.
