I know for a fact these camps exist.

In live in Orange County California (the OC) and pretty much everyone here is "Christian" and has way too much money. I know of 4 different people first hand (2 of which were friends) that have been sent to these Christian "camps" that cure you of everything from drugs / alcohol / to "losing your faith" to being an "out of control teenager". 2 weeks ago, the family across the street from me sent their 17 year old son to one of these Christian boot camps in Mexico.

However, Christians don't run any camps (that I've heard of) that try to "cure" people of being gay. HOWEVER i know for a fact that Mormons do, and they run some in the state of Colorado, the same state the makers of South Park are from.

Having lived in (lol)Idaho for 12 years, and OC for 8, both very Christian regions, Christians don't react nearly as bad to homosexuals as everyone thinks they do. In fact, if anything, they seem to be more understanding than your average person.

Yet, there always homophobes that look for anyway to spread their message of hate, not just for homosexuals but anyone not like them; and saying "God hates gays" gets their message a lot of attention.

I'm not a Christian btw i just live by them.

South park episode was funny, and what Butter said in the end is true based on that situation, I just don't think it apply well to any real life situation people went through recently, hence why I said there was "no" message. It was closer to the christian stereotype than the usual caricacture of the actuality.

There are Christian camps that try to straighten out troubled youth.. but I have never heard of one that tries to cure gay people. I would have to see some evidence and information about one to believe that one did exist. There are probably some gay kids that get sent to those types of camps, but those camps are not designed to be gay curing machines. On a side note the amount of kids I know that lost their virginity at church camp is astounding, lol.

As far as I know the only church that spreads the "God Hates Fags" message is the westboro baptist church http://www.godhatesfags.com/main/index.html and those are the same people that you hear about on TV that protest at soldier funerals.

Homosexuality is considered to be a sin by many churches, but there are also a lot of churches that accept gay people and there are 100% gay churches out there too. You should keep in mind that sex between unmarried people and/or for purposes other than procreation are considered sinful by many churches. You should also keep in mind that even thinking about it is just as bad as doing it

That combined with many other things.. it is impossible to live a life without sin and we are all destined for hell anyway.. That is the whole point of the new testament. Any church that would single out or judge gay people separately is wrong and while I am sure there are people at almost every church that know that, churches have always had a hard time dealing with the majority of their membership that carries a bible but has never actually read one.

For a spiritual and psychological standpoint the difference between a good and evil person is that a good person knows when they did something wrong and an evil person denies it to the point of trying to destroy any evidence of their wrong. Always be afraid of people that are on the offensive in pointing out the faults of others to hide their own and question their motives.

Summary: Don't judge Christianity for the actions of people who are most likely gay anyway.

It's really not all Christians in general, there are tons of different kinds with the hardcore um... can't think of the word but it basically means like "old school" Catholics and the super crazy end of the Mennonites that are the really nutso ones.

I didn't like this week's episode at all mostly because South Park is all about being as original as possible (yeah yeah simpsons did it) and taking on issues that nobody else would dare take on especially in the manner they do. (Schaivo anyone? Holy shit that was beyond genius.) There's been more than one movie about the "Cure Gayness" camps and all that shit, including the suicide etc. albeit done from a different angle, which is what kept it at least a little funny.

Really though it kinda played out like what they bitched about in the cartoon wars episodes, it was like family guy where the story could have been completely different and 99% of the jokes would be interchangeable.

Maybe it was just because they portrayed the "bad guys" as complete dipshit doofuses that would never really affect anyone, and I grew up surrounded by the crazy ass end of the Catholic small town every damn person you meet is related and there's all of like 4 last names people and they're just as psycho and foolish as the people in the show, but you can't help but take them seriously in real life cuz they're fucking crazy and intense about it.

Yeah, having straigth sex for fun is a sin lol, which is basically why it's a gay sex is a sin. It's also why they are against divorse and gay marriage because it's not about making babies..
