No... Ester was a pagan thingy that was adopted by the church. A lot of the holidays came about like that. Eostre was the goddess of fertility, whom had a head of a rabbit. It was tradition that the goddess would lay a batch of colourful eggs, which is where we got the painting of the eggs, as well as the rabbit. Since it was in spring and represented new life, it fit right in with the ressurection of christ.

Da Vinci Code/south park spoilers that explain what you're missing:

The main "theory" of the Da Vinci Code is that the person sitting to Jesus's left in da vinci's the last supper, whom Jesus is gazing at lovingly, is Mary Magdeline. The premise is that Jesus had children with her, but that it was covered up by the Catholic church. The story is then that there is still a descendant of Jesus alive in the world, and that there is a secret organization protecting them from the wrath of the Catholic chruch. The episode really had nothing whatsoever to do with Easter. Also, just a side note, my dad is in town and watched the episode with me, and commented that when he and my mother had recently seen the painting in person, the person to Jesus's left is in fact very noticably feminine.

The cheesy (but almost always very relevant and brilliantly shown) underlying message which is in every South Park was in the scene at the end where one of the bishops asked the rabbit how they should tell people to live their lives, and the point was that (they, the South Park people, believe) Jesus would not want anything of the sort, but the church has a bunch of power hungry fuckups that want to control shit ruining it for all the good people.

hehe most of south park is not literal, when it gets too literal they tend to suck, like the lice episode with the theme about the universe is huge and alive and people are stupid for thinking that there's any kind of possibilty that we're completely alone, or the butters gets sent to camp thing where it was just "lol stupid crazy religious people"
