keyboard ? controller ?

hmm.. i started on ps2 years ago and got very used to it.. i converted to pc a yr ago and go a logitech controller.. last monday i noticed the wire started coming loose.. i called and bitched @ logitech and im getting a free replacement soon ^^


but for the past 9 days i've been controllerless.. and i found that my rdm is a much harder job than i realize. i lvled mnk from like 68-73 in those past days. and holy shit is it hella easy

but like.. dynamis is a bitch.. i cant target as fast as i can with 'tab' . only thing i found easier on the keyboard was the macro's .. but even then.. i could do it just as fast on the controller because im used to it ^^


anyone else experience like this ? if other plz explain

I'm using KB only, but I know most of my friends use a controler. When I went to some friend's house to play FFXI, and they saw me playing with the KB only, they were all shocked that I wouldn't want to use their controller and that it was impossible to play the game with the KB... I dunno, I personally find it much easier than a controller...

I use keyboard, but I really like the Xbox360 controller. My biggest complaint is that I have to use menus to get into my magic menu. (I'm a BLM)

I don't macro my nukes, I only macro spells like Drain/Aspir, Blink, Stoneskin, and very important enfeebling spells like Stun and Sleep. All that is on the CTRL line, and on the ALT line are my staves, hMP set, nuke set, and enfeebling set.

If there was a button that I could hit on my controller that instantly brought me to my magic menu, I would go to the controller and never come back.

uhh.. what i do on my rdm.. since it is a ps2 style controller.. hit X >> 'dpad down' >> X . and that brings you to the magic menu.. but do it very very fast ^^

inever used to macro.. but with endgame and everything being necessary. i use sleep macro.. refresh. haste. both uts' for /nin :O .. and equip on ALT

Am I the only one who uses both? I use most macros and typing from keyboard, while most of my movement/camera movement from controller. But I use both of them interchangably depending on the situation. Why use one when you can have the benefits of both =p?

This is essentially what I do, moving around is WAY too messed up on the keyboard for my liking, and I'm just not as accurate, which is dangerous in a lot of situations, like kiting, soloing things on BLM or pulling in Dynamis.

Yeah i normally use them both, kb on my lap but i do all my macroing, etc with controller.

Started with a gamepad, but quickly switched to keyboard, when my THF called for a lot of macro's.
Now I use both, switching from time to time, getting some RSI-ish pains in my hand and wrists, and gamepad alleviates this a bit. That, and leaning back once in a while is nice.

I flip around like 5-7 macros plates on both CTRL and ALT each while playing BLM or RDM... no fucking way I could imagine doing that with a controller...

I think it comes down to which platform you have gamed on in the past.

I have never played PC games only platform games, so I live and die by the controller. I find it so difficult to do anything on a keyboard =/

i have a usb adapter that lets me plug in ps2 controllers into my pc... and tried it once...

couldnt make sense of the controls and hitting macro's was a pain...

i use a gamepad, but i am familiar with every single text command in the game as well (having been a long-time MUD it was important to me). pad is slower as far as getting to your macros and whatnot, but a seasoned gamepad veteran will have no problems getting around palettes. i do everything incredibly fast on the pad, and i'd recommend it to everyone too, but a good synergy of the two works best.
