    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

To clear up the whole "does TH4 really work here?" questions, yes, it does. Greatly. I've actually never seen drops so heavily affected by TH than I have in Nyzul Isle. Our group at the start was NIN DRG BRD BLU COR RDM and our drop rate was horrible on Floor 20 farming. After seeing how little melee output we had and curative power for Fafnir, let alone just no drops period, we changed it up and went NIN DRG DRG WHM COR THF. For the past few months it's been an insane set up that's worked very well. Drop rates have sky rocketed, as we're 6/8 on Floor 40 drops so far, and about 16/25 on Floor 20. I've been going THF since and yeah, drops w/ TH4 are just too good to pass up, so definitely bring a THF, it's very well worth it.

As far as the whole rampart goes, we just kill it so we don't have it aggroing and the COR having to sleep it while we kill the boss. So when we hit the boss floor, I'll pull it asap while we rest up. I wouldn't believe the whole bit about it affecting drops or not, just kill it and bring a THF with you to boss runs, simple as that.

I'll let my TH4 THF know that our 0/4 Floor80s last night will come out of his paycheck! XD

But yeah, like I mentioned earlier, if you have someone with THF and a melee spot open they can fill, no real reason to not follow the TH train on Nyzul boss floors cause you'll see drops more often than not (even with having 0/4 bad luck like we did last night).

And /hurray for a Floor78 Free Floor, since we were just talking about it ^^ Probably like our 6th one in 60+ runs.

Something we have started doing in my perma is grabbing a body boost, using it before we port up, then grabbing another for floor 100 runs. Way to many extra coins on most of us, and 2 body boosts makes things a lot cleaner.

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

Something very weird happened today on a floor 79. We warped up and got an AGI+30 boost on a kill all floor. So I ran ahead to the Wivre that was nearby, and one-shotted it:

    http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...923_231750.jpg

The rest of the floor was normal, so I don't have a clue what was up with this mob. Anyone else see something like this?

Seen it plenty of times, it seems every so often the Wivres in there are glitched and you just one shot them. Had it happen to my group 10 or so times. Don't think it ever happened on any other mob, just Wivres.

It's happened a few times to our COR. I personally boomeranged a Wivre dead and I've seen it happen to a Marid as well.

We've had the same kind of experience some evenings.

I remember one Sunday night we ran floor 80 three times, killed Cerb, Khim and Hydra and came up with nothing at all.

    Very frustrating when that happens.

We're going to start running Floor 96-100 this week, advice welcome on how best to handle the bosses. In particular, how much stunning are we likely to need at <25% and what kind of buffs/chest items would be most useful? I'm guessing 2 stunners, fanatics + body boost + clerics. Bar-elements (fire, ice) very helpful? Carols helpful or just Mar/Min zerg ftw?

Usual setup for us is NIN BLU MNK WHM BRD + one other (RDM/DRK?), although multiple other jobs are available from the members of that setup.

    Thanks.

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

Our only stun is a DRK, and more than half the time he misses the stun for GoH/Fulm/Nerve Gas and we haven't had any real problems. WAR RDM WHM DRK MNK THF is our normal setup. THF sometimes switches to DRG, and the DRK used to come BLU before the 2hr patch.

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

I was wondering something, my group has become quite good at nyzul isle though were only on floor 80 and out drops are as follows:

4/17 on floor 20 (Azkar, Goliard)
    1/5 on floor 40 (Denali)
    0/2 on floor 60
1/25 on floor 80 (Goliard Saio)

Now, with our drop rate sucking ass (and we do take thf alot more then not) would going to floor 100 and clearing and going back through nyzul isle all the way affect our boss floors?

I thought I read somewhere that after completing 100 floor, that nyzul drops are 100% on boss floors on second time through? Anyone know anything about this?

    Thanks

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

Clearing it through once doesn't seem to help drop rates when you go up a second time. Not to mention, if the person who cleared it gets his/her disk back to 100, you'll only get weapons for whatever job they're on. Nyzul Floor 100 drops are 100% if you follow through with it and don't have the disk holder warp before the boss dies.

Pretty much what Judai said though we did have a DRK stunner. The 100 floor Kings die just as fast as the 80/60/40/20 floor Kings so keep that in mind if you plan on having your runic disk holder warp out. Fanatic's Drink was the only thing the melees got and a Reraise scroll for anyone that didn't bring any reraise item I guess.

Our set up was WAR WAR DRK THF RDM BRD.

Thanks, we'll probably end up NIN BLU MNK SAM WHM BRD on Thursday and see how it all plays out.

    I appreciate the feedback.

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

Jade, I don't have any feedback directly on the Floor100 fights since I've never done them. But to your questions about buffs during these battles I will say that for the real ToAU fights on them, bars/carols are only effective when stacked really high (i.e. a Tiamat tank with 300+ resistance) and are generally not worth the setup for these particular quickened battles. Have your whm/rdm toss up an appropriate barspell per HNM at the beginning or if they have time to refresh it, or go for trying for a status resistance (i.e. barblizzara + barparalyzra for Ululation on Cerb), but either way you don't have to put much stock in it imo...especially over a min/march or dd/eva/enmity tank build.

If you're really worried about stuns on the battle and don't really have a dedicated person to do it, you *could* have your NIN go NIN/DRK and tank and try to stun...but I wouldn't recommend that without experience tanking that way, and also it's hard for the rest of the floors to clear as well as if you get Khimaira who has a really high resistance to Stun when spammed. Good luck ^^

I was like, that sounds just like my group, wait he has thf and cor... oh hi remey.

Anyway, floor 100 bosses are a LITTLE harder because of their high end moves like GoH, either way it went down fast when there was no SS or Physical Shield, too fast .

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

Many thanks. In terms of the Barspells, you got exactly what I was getting at, specifically Barparalyzra/Barblizzara for Ululation. I guess we'll throw those out at the start as you suggest, and see if we can try to keep them up.

For stuns, I guess I wanted to make sure we have at least one available at <25%, did briefly consider NIN/DRK but other options look a bit more promising (eg BLU, maybe RDM/DRK). Interesting that Khimaira has a strong resistance to stun, I wasn't aware of that so thanks for the heads up.

I don't know about you, but as a BRD Elegy seems even more important in these fights than usual - makes things so much easier.

    I appreciate the help.

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

Yeah Elegy is a lifesaver on these guys, because they attack so damn fast and are virtually resistant to most Enfeebling Magic besides Ninjutsu and Songs (still highly resistant to those too). When I go on RDM, I buy an Assassin's Drink (macc) from the crate to help land my debuffs at the start. I'm a pretty decked out RDM, and I still have severe trouble landing debuffs on both these and the real versions, so if I do stick one it's definitely noticeable hehe. It was especially fun to Dispel the Blaze Spikes effect from Magma Hoplon on RDM with the drink lol (virtually impossible to dispel spikes from real Cerb).

For stuns, I forget if these actually can do their super TP moves at any time, or when they can normally do them. If it's when they can normally do them, please be aware that Khimaira can do Fulmination at 35%, unlike the others at 25%. Also, a little tidbit of trivia for you...Khimaira being a creature that was "created" and theoretically has no soul, blah blah...he is actually weak to Arcane Killer. So anyone with Arcane Circle (/drk) or Arcane Killer effects will intimidate at times.

    Enjoy ^^
