    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

Did 1 Floor 20 and 2 Floor 40s last night. Nothing on the 20, 1/2 on 40, only walked out with Goliard Trews...

Either we got Askar boots on the 20 and they didn't drop due to all our members having or we got nothing at all.

A friend of mine's static did 3 Floor 80s tonight, they went 3/3. Askar, Denali and Goliard. 1/25 for that Floor 80 sounds like you don't have a THF or you're having ridiculously bad luck.

I can account for my group having about a 1/10 drop rate at best for the past 50+ runs or so (although it has been better recently)

We've gone on 0/20 streaks im sure, and had TH4 the whole time.

Yes, even if a group has an evening where they get 2 drops out of 3 on floor 80, that's a low sample size with minimal statistical power ie it could just be that they had a lucky night.

If you look at a larger sample size with greater statistical significance, ie results from many groups over a long period of time and many runs, it does appear that drop rate on 80 seems to be rather low, even with a THF. Drop rate on 20 and 40 seems a bit better.

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

I can attest to the fact that overall- bosses r easy. Get a fanatic drink and a rr item and ur all set.
Usually go w/ nin, mnk, thf, whm, blm, rdm(or brd)-- or something along those lines. Major damage comes from SC and just plain old zergin the hell outta 'em.

Nyzul overall isn't difficult. What it requires (and why I enjoy it so much) is the ability to adjust to various situations on the fly and very clear communication between the peeps in your group. W/ a 'well oiled' group things go tremendously smoothly (unless SE decides 2 fuk you w/ lameass ITG pudding floors x2 or whatever).

we have actually had the worst luck w/ floor 40 drops.

and for sure- TH is HUGE. imho its really not worth doing the boss floors w/o it.

Now if only those weapons did something besides take up space Is there any new theories/news on those things?

That's in line with what my group has seen. Our stats (drops out of successful boss kills):

    20: 9/16ish
    40: 8/12ish <-- 4 goliard, 4 askar
    60: 2/2 (or was it 2/3?)
    80: 4/12

80 has just sucked compared to the others. Note that we typically have 2 people subbing thf for lolTH1x2. Occasionally we have a thf instead. We're 2/3 on 80 with a real thf in the party.

i have a couple quick, very basic ?s i couldn't find the answer to, sorry and flame away if ya want - as long as i get the answer =P my xbox is taking a giant dump and i can't log in much lately.

this requires 1 I.D. tag, i know that - can it be done once per day per person, or is there a different requirement or restriction (i.e every 3 days?)

and what exactly is the ToAU mission req for access? trying to post a signup topic for my LS and need this info.

You can use all 4 tags on nyzul if you want to, it's just like any assault. You just don't get any assault points for it. You do however get rank points for it. 5 points for each set of 5 new floors you do and 1 point for each set of 5 that you complete that you have done before. The only ToAU mission requirement is mission 1 like the rest of the assaults. Good luck, nyzul is my fav thing in this game atm.

Yes, you can do a boss battle with 4 tags if you are skilled enough to make it to Floor20 with your first 4 tags (usually the first set or two of floors is the hardest for most groups because it's new).

You do lose XP when you die inside the assault. You also gain XP as you kill the mobs on the progress floors, if you are required/choose to do so (most con about decent challenge - even match except the NMs and Leaders). You do not get XP for killing an HNM.

You got the bolded part right, and then contradicted it by perpetuating a horrible rumor that just refuses to die. It IS like any assualt. The first time you complete it successful (exit manually, after ANY number of floors), you get 5 points. All other successful exits get you 1 point. Just like any other assault. It shows up in your completed list the same, Rytaal tell you that you succeeded or lost the same, everything is the same.

Sorry, I'm just sick of seeing people repeat this blatant falsehood.

I couldn't agree with you more. I've already edited it out of the Wiki twice, I just found another location where it was wrong as well and changed it. Argh.

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

Didn't want to start a topic but it's nyzul related so I figure I'd ask here.

Friends and I are starting a 3 person with floating 4th Nyzul static, and we've gotten really screwed floor-wise on the first few runs (enemy leader being a good 3-4 minute run from lightswitch if we even find him right away) so, it's occured to me that we're either A) doing something wrong or B) getting unlucky.

We are right now RDM NIN DRG, we've done run as NIN BRD RDM, and also NIN RDM SMN, our floating 4th is a BLU, but basically, I'm curious are floors / scaling designed so that 2 melee and a support can farm this decently? Should we be looking into different job setups? Doing another run today still trying to get to F20, got 3 floors in last run in about 5 minutes, then took 6 minutes getting everyone to enemy leader which was salvage chariot type, entire floor overall took us about 17 minutes, never had a chance to complete 5f.

Any suggestions / comments are welcome, I've been doing basically 5-6 salvage runs a week up until recently, am completely new to nyzul as is my group.

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

It doesn't scale. Some people claimed it scaled because they got some easy floors when they had less people but that's all they were, easy floors. I think it would be pretty hard with only 3 people, sometimes you get some really shitty floors.

The only thing that would scale is Lamp floors, I don't think there can be more lamps then people. (unless someone d/cs)

Really, I would say get more people. It will more then likely be hard to complete sets easily with 3.

(I could be wrong on the scaling, never went with less then 4. In my experience it was always the same though, whether 4 or 6 people and the floors we breezed through with 6, we struggled with 4.)

    Re: Nyzul Isle Initial Findings

We ran 96-100 and two 76-80 (second disc) last night. Didn't use the warp strat to redo 100 since we have that second disc going.

On the 96-100, boss was Cerberus, dropped Goliard Chapeau and Inferno Claws (PUP). We were pretty disappointed in the weapon drop since nobody in the LS has PUP leveled, and I for one was looking forward to getting a careful and statistically powerful LS parse on a Nyzul Weapon. Nevermind, we'll see what second disc brings. I was lucky enough to get the hat.

The two floor 76-80 runs, we got Cerb again both times, no drops. Droprate on that floor remains persistently low, total is now 3x Askar 1x Goliard 1x Denali but we've run it a lot. Cerb seems much easier now that we've figured out how to deal with the Ululation spam (Cleric's Drinks, Remedy Ointments, Paralyna +/- DV).

Thanks to BG posters esp. Pninja for advice on the floor 100 bosses. We'll be going back to Nyzul again on Thursday as per usual.

grats on the win, Jade ^^

Btw, for the Ululation, I'm not sure what may or may not be your downfall with it (assuming you have someone /whm) but it has a 20' windower range AoE. So basically if you position your mages correctly, none of your mages will be hit with Ululation because if cerb is at 20.1 or greater range and your tank/melee are in between cerb and you, your mages can be at max range and not get hit. If you don't have anyone that uses windower (gasp) just have your tank get on cerb's foot and then just stand at a diagonal from the tank with cerb on the other side of the tank and find your max casting range on them. It'll miss you every time (but don't tell your melee about it...make them bring meds anyway haha).

Thanks. And yes, our mages don't get hit by Ululation anymore since we learned to stand outside 20', and if it does happen we just pop a med and it goes away. The melee usually have Cleric's Drinks and meds on them also, and between that and Paralyna it's no longer a problem (we always have at least 2 people with Paralyna).

We actually went through the Cerbs last night with enough time left over to go do Floor 81 for a few extra tokens, which was nice. I do wish he'd drop a bit more though, some of our folks are still missing body pieces they want.
