Is the style of Fable the same as Elder Scrolls?
Not really. If anything, Fable is the red-headed step child of Elder Scrolls.Originally Posted by Po
Huh? Why did you do that? The 360 version will have Shivering Isles out by the time Oblivion comes out for the PS3. Rehash of the same game and it'll look pretty much the same.Originally Posted by Exoduso
What you should have done was just getting it for the PC! I tried the game again per someone's recommendation on this board with the mods and it's a lot more fun. A lot less load time too that you'll see on either console variant.
Meh that doesn't really bother me, I just would rather have it on the PS3.![]()
BTW, that video on gamevideos.com looks amazing. (of ps3 oblivion.)
I was thinking of trying Fable, since I never played it when it came out, but I think I'll just stick to Oblivion. I've logged like 30 hours on the game so far and I don't even feel like I've scratched the surface of what this game has to offer just in the straight-out-of-the-box edition alone...
Someone who is an Oblivion vet; did you find much replayability in terms of trying different races and classes for different guilds, or did you get max faction in every faction all on one character?
I cannot fucking wait for this game.
Fable was one of the greatest games in THIS TIME to emerge for any system.
It had the same feel as a zelda game, but as mentioned, was over far too quickly.
Imagine Fable 2 as having the depth of a Morrowind title.
Fucking /cum.
Blah, Fable was good, but not that good.Originally Posted by Jerseyprophet
I'm with Jersey on this one. When Fable came out it was a totally unique experience for me. I had never played anything like it before. And, to an extent, haven't since.Originally Posted by MisterBob
As for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, FUCKING LOVE IT
I can say without a doubt that the first 20 minutes in that game was the best first 20 minutes in a game ever for me. And it continued like that too. This game is fucking awesome.
I also hate playing games of this type in first person, but for whatever reason, this game makes it enjoyable to play in first person. When I'm on my horse I drop it back to 3rd, but as soon as I get off I pop it back into 1st.
Can anyone tell me how I raise my stats though? I know the skills raise through repetition, moving and jumping will skillup your acrobatics, attacking raises combat skill. Pretty standard fare, but how do you raise the stats like strength?
The lock picking system is also the best I've seen in any game, ever. A minimap would be nice though, but the ability to instantly warp yourself to anywhere on your map sort of makes up for it.
I never messed with the lock picking lol, I just got the infinite key that opens anything and you can use it as many times are you want... easiest shit ever heh.
As for raising your stats, you first have to do random skill-ups with random abilities like casting cure on yourself or jumping nonestop... and then it will eventually tell you to go to sleep. When you sleep, you will have the option of upgrading stuff like HP, STR, etc.
o.o;; thats crazy lol
To raise a level in Oblivion you must get 10 skill ups in your major skills, and then go sleep in a bed. When you level up you pick 3 stats to raise. Multipliers for each stat are given by the number of skills levels you increased that are goverend by a certain stat. For every 2 skill levels gained you get a one point mulitiplier increase to the governing stat of that skill up to a 5x multiplier (i.e. To get a STRx5 multiplier on level up you need 10 skill increases among skills that are governed by STR.)
Your hp is increased by a % of your total endurance. MP is effected only by the amount of Intelligence you have. Unless you increase that stat you won't get anymore magicka, beyond using potions, spells, and gear that fortify your maximum magicka.
Powerleveling in Oblivion is a bad idea because the monsters level up with you and the only way to raise your stats is to use raise skills that govern the stats you want to increase. Spamming cure spells or jumping in place or sneaking constantly for fast level ups will severly gimp your character, since you will only get stat mulitpliers for the stat that governs the skills you used to level.
GO TO SLEEP!
Same here Exo, i used a few picks early on, since you find them all over the place, but once i got the Infinite Pick it was lootwhore time!
Man... i should get back into that game. I kind of broke mine though >.>
I destroyed that chap in the Imperial City, the one that had the gold glitch so I was never really hurting for money, bought a few houses. I cleared the Thief Guild Quests so ... the final reward there is a LOT of GD fun.
I also have the infinite use Soul Gem, and coupled with a Soul Steal + fire + thunder Bow i basically have a one shot fiesta going at all times. I have barely even scratched the Main Quest's surface... am almost done with the Dark Brotherhood line, and halfway through the Mage Guilds line.
Shimmering Isles is looking at me funny... i dun like it >.>
I beat the whole game as I knew it (1000 achivement points), but never downloaded the knights expansion so I dunno anything there.
I think the Dark Brotherhood guild has the best story in the game, everyone should go through those missions at least once, they rock big time.
I am getting the game for the PS3 now, so i'll get a chance to play through it again... I haven't really touched it since July~ish when I finished everything in it.
man, there is a lot to this game huh?
so then, is it a bad idea to level up then? should i do nothing to "try" to level up? like, avoid fighting if i can so i wont get combat skillups?
lol im still in the beginning, i gave the dragon amulet to jauffre and he sent me to look for the kings son. so i got to the city he was and saw the oblivion gate and im inside oblivion right now, and the guys are not so easy ><
I suggest doing whatever it is you want to do before going on with the main storyline, doing all the guild quests and miniquests and stuff like that is really fucking annoying when you have like 50 oblivion gates open everywhere on the map.
As long as you don't have skills that raise really fast as your major skills then you should be ok. I never really tried to maximize my characters by getting three 5x multipliers per level like some do, and I haven't had a problem yet in the game. Skills like acrobatics, athletics, sneak, and security should probalby all set as minor skills, alchemy too possibly since that skill is really easy to level.so then, is it a bad idea to level up then? should i do nothing to "try" to level up? like, avoid fighting if i can so i wont get combat skillups?
On level ups always pick endurance to increasee as that effects your maximum health throughout the game. If you are a figher pick str as that increases your damage. If you use bows predominatly pick agi. Willpower and Intellegence are mostly for mages. Some people reccomend always taking a luck point as well, but I never do. I usually just buff my luck by picking a certain star sign and choosing it as a favored attribute when leveling my character. This should get your luck to around 60 which is pretty good.
ohhhh thanks
yeah i made a custom class and called it melee XD i picked combat and endurance as my 2 primary skills, and i was born on the sign of the warrior lol. I dont recall what the 7 main stats were i picked but they were the most melee combat oriented ones.
