Yeah, Valkurm and Altepa ramp up the difficulty by decreasing the number of digs, while Bubu and Elshimo ramp up the difficulty by widening the radius in which you'll find the treasure.

I have to say again, Treasure Finder is really helpful for the increased radius locations. In Buburimu, I almost always found the location by dig 4 or 5, and usually on dig 3. I suppose Bore or Burrow would be much better for the decreased digs locations, since even if you find the treasure quickly, you could get boned by not having enough time to REACH the treasure.

I don't want to imagine trying to do the harder locations without having some kind of special ability to help you out. And I'm torn between starting towards Valkurm/Altepa, and continuing to try my luck on Elshimo. Free random furnishings are nice (my mules will all have tastefully decorated homes!)

I guess this is square's way of making us raise special birds just for digging. >_>

Well... yeah. It only makes sense. If you're really interested in chocobo racing, you'll raise birds geared for racing, right? Similarly, if you're really interested in chocobo digging, you'll raise birds geared for digging. Especially since Chocobo H&C improves the bird's digging ability now. I could see raising a bird to be a general digger, getting two of Burrow/Bore/Treasure Finder depending on your personal needs/preferences, and using H&C as an additional training method that doesn't require you to buy hundreds of Gysahl Greens.

If you don't want to do that, then that'd be fine, but it means you'd either have to stick to starter areas for H&C, or accept that you wouldn't consistently pull up treasure in the harder ones.

The only reason that is really annoying is because the bird you call for digging is the same bird that you call with your whistle. If you could have an exclusive digging bird that is different from your fast mount, that would be a much better system.

I agree wholeheartedly. >.>;; I've got a Registration card for a fast bird, but my whistle always calls pokey old ForestShadow because I do Hot & Cold daily.

On the plus side, when I went to get a chococard the other day, I was also offered the option of a CRA (that's Chocobo Racing Association) application form, so it seems like you don't have to race the bird that's tied to your whistle.

Gave Yhoator Jungle a try today. It was in the big area down by the Temple. I don't think we'll ever have treasures hidden in the twisty maze-like bits, if only because those walls rule out a lot of spots and make it easier in some ways.

    Four items this time:
    Gausebit Wildgrass
    Cactuar Root
    King Truffle
    Vivified Coral

So that's about 10k (on my server), a chance to cook something fun for my friends, and a discount on my next RR pin. Woot!

Today I got gyshal greens, indurated gold ingot, and rogue's platinum ingot from the same crate in buburimu while we were gathering for dynamis. So Bubu can have 3 results (though it always seems to be more often just 1 than 2, let alone 3).

In regards to the change where succeeding may improve your chocobo's digging ability (paraphrased): I've noticed that while it used to take five digs to hit the chest, now it only seems to take four. Anyone else notice something similar?

Yesterday I dug in Buburimu and got just gyshal greens, nothing else. This was the day after I got arcane flowerpot there, so I wondered if maybe that used up my treasure for that area, so now I'm working on getting valkurm.. has anyone else gotten just the crap item in buburimu?

I've had that happen 2 or 3 times, I can't recall now what I'd gotten the day before, though. It definitely doesn't mean you've used up your treasure, as I've gotten good treasure since then (if you count synthesis materials for shit people never craft as 'good'). I've been assuming maybe it was going to be some Rare-flagged item like Hi-Reraiser or something, that didn't load at all similar to how some items won't drop from mobs when you already have one.
