Server Issues?

Yesterday one of my dead zones was Zitah and San'doria, couldn't get through them no matter what, besides running through Zitah dcing.

However today everything is working perfectly fine. Got to my Sandy outpost to OP to Aery, and ran through Zitah just fine, no dc's. I'm actually starting to believe that this isn't a SE problem. Last night my Modem's power went out for a split second and then came back on, I found this somewhat odd, but since then, no issues whatsoever. You guys might just have to wait out

Well I finally got mine working, and I don't quite understand why. I tried all day yesterday and today resetting my modem and hub, but nothing made a difference. So today I tried what other people suggested and connected my computer directly to the modem via Ethernet cable and that still didn't work. Then I noticed the modem also had a USB hookup so I connected to that instead and now it's magically working. I'm still at a loss as to how SE didn't cause this to happen and how any of this makes sense as to why it would work with slight changes, but wtfever, gl to those who are still having troubles.

P.S. I haven't stepped out of my Moghouse yet so I have no idea if I have any dead zones, I'm eagerly anticipating them

Well, I like many, am having troubles connecting and staying connected to FFXI. I tried the router stuff, but to no avail. I can play on ps2 xbox360 or ps2 all 3 systems fail to keep me logged in. Now having said that and with risk of contradicting myself i can stay logged in under my mules(Bmarkets, SSandy, WWalls, LJeuno). The problem zones that i have experienced are as followed: Alzabi, Aht Urgan Whitegate, Qufim Island, Metal Works, Windurst Waters, Port Sand oria, & North Gustaberg... probably more but this is all i can tell from my mules and main characters.

The error code i get is FFXI-4001, which of course is no response from the server(s).

People are saying its not a SE problem ... well lets make it an SE problem, How? Not to sure myself. Only thing i can come up with is just clogging up there phone lines and GM calls until they do something. (unlikely)

I guess we play the waiting game?? Until this is resolved i'll be on Gears of War (Nickname: Pink Knight....my roommates account.... dont ask me why.... cause i don't know!)

4001 is the same error im getting... i cant get into that 192.168.1.1 IP address cause its has a username/password that i have no idea what it is... The cable modem comes from the company Timewarner so they prolly have it.

So i tried resetting my IP address but dosent work i cant change it.. Ill unplug it tonight when we goto bed and see.

That is a local IP address used by your local network(usually a router). The password should either be "admin" as well as the username unless it has been changed by a network administrator. Try to use the password/username combo and see if it works.

yeah, they can claim the "service is working correctly", but clearly something changed in how they communicate with clients and its causing widespread issues across many, many ISPs. its not like only one service provider in one region guys. They changed something, they are doing something unusual from a network perspective they weren't before, and that is the root of the issue. I think SE changing back to whatever way that worked fine before is alot more reasonable a solution than them expecting 100s of ISPs all over the globe to change whatever their doing to accomodate a few whiny video game players.

i think we all need to sumbit POL email support, call support, call gms, until we get an update and acknowledgement that they are planning on fixing this issue. SEs inability to speak plainly to their customers is quite frustrating here after seeing such suprising changes in the patch...

twiddled with my routers mac address, reset my modem, released and renewed DHCP, changed my LAN ip range, etc. None of that is working for me. I use Comcast in Atlanta, GA for what its worth.

Maybe it's because of the language barrier!

yeah, im in littlefivepoints on Siren server. Same dead zones as you, plus one other unfortunate one I cant escape from anymore as Ill explain.

got out of rullude zoing into upper. Then got stuck in sea as i was starting to get card for limbus with ls. missed that run lol. Ran all over several times in sea dcing. logged in once and was dead somehow lol, but it let me return to homepoint, so when i relogged in after THAT dc i was in whitegate and fine. meritted and stuff, did an isnm. wake up and teleport to crag to take the warp to sky to join ls for god session. And sadly, Hall of transference- holla is a dead zone to me...which you have to confirm a telepad to leave. so im stuck for good until this is addressed.

How the fuck is it not SE? For 3 years...everything was working fine. Then on 3/9/07, they update, and BAMM!!!!....I can't log in with any system, and niether can alot of others.

So riddle me this Batman....if it wasn't something changed by SE...did every fucking person's router/modem/ISP go bad at the exact same time?

To be fair, my net has been pretty whacky today. Geting random hangups and dc's all over the place at servers all over the world. The FFXI problems started last night and my net had no issues, so I don't know. I just want the damn thing fixed.

I conencted to my neighbor's wireless internet just to test... lo and behold! no more DC areas!

LS leader needed to get triggers from my character this evening, so she logged me in and ran me around just fine. She's out in North Carolina.

I've tried Modem/router reset, new IP, resetting MAC... nothing works yet. I'm about to try USB direct from the modem... lets see how that magic fix works...

Surprisingly...because you can connect to it, and people vary between which ones work and which one doesn't as limited to just FIVE miles geographically it shows that it is not the ISP or SE's fault, its a hub on the way that went down.

This is why getting a new IP (and possibly bypassing it) is a viable solution. Jeeze.

I patched my laptop in hopes of fixing my deadzone, but it didnt do anything. I still DC instantly upon entering remnants /sigh.

Friend can log me in just fine and play me for the duration, but both my PC and Laptop are unable to enter? What the gay.

No matter how many times i change IP address, it seems like every 3rd zone i enter is a dead zone

I zoned into Yhoator Jungle on Bahamut and keep getting R0's upon login. Looks like that's a deadzone too.

Edit: And of course you can't contact SE technical support because it's a weekend.

i unplugged the net from my router and plugged directly into the modem. Seems the problem is fixed. I also did ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew

hopefully SE fixes this soon cuz i need my damn router. lol.
