I been getting 3113'd the past 2 days. Someone suggested connecting via USB rather than Ethernet and it worked for me. I figured I'd throw that out for anyone who's using Optimum.

Epic fail? Or just epic. YOU DECIDE.
I actually noticed myself d/cing earlier in Xarcabard (getting kinda used to it now in Ru'Lude, Misareaux, now Xarca) and sent my friend a message that I'd been talking to all evening. The message was sent right then and there with no hesitation, while I was still r0ing and d/cing...when I got back on, I had a reply to that message and was able to read it as I ran to Beaucedine zone >.> that's just not right...
Ganon
OK, so I've been fine all this time with the modem connected directly to the PC via USB (been on for a few hours, Al Zahbi, Whitegate, Bastok Mine, Bastok Markets, Metalworks, Bhaflau Thickets, Mamool Ja Training Grounds all OK).
Outposted to Qufim Island and was welcome with an R0 and a FFXI-4001. Zoned into Lower Delkfutt's Tower before I hit R0 and completely lost the connection and that zone was fine, once I logged back in.
Zoned back out to Qufim Island and started R0'ing again.
The USB-instead-of-Ethernet thing solved my PlayOnline Viewer problem (Top Page would not load), but I'm getting this sh*t now.
Back to the drawing board (a.k.a. waiting until Monday).
I was having the same problem, zoning in R0ing etc. Directly connecting to my modem fixed the problem, and a more permenent solution is to do the following :
1) Clone the MAC address from one of your local machines to the router.
2) Force the router to release and renew its IP (this will get you a new IP from your ISP, the new mac address will guarantee this is different then the one you had before).
3) Re-boot the router (just to be safe, should do the same as (2)).
4) re-connect and it should work fine.
Still down.
Reconnect did not work. X-X

I just noticed this message in my chatlog, kinda enigmatic though lol. Is there a new announcement about the connectivity issue somewhere? I'd rather avoid logging out to check POL and I can't open FFXI official website at the moment, I just hope they're starting to work on fixing it, somehow.
Fixed here.
Yay. :D
Same issue here ... going on three days now. Guess I'l unplug my router again ...

Mostly unrelated.
Something similarly strange happened to me. A friend and I were on the phone going to do lolODS together, and we zoned into Oldton. He says to me that hes DCing, and he'll be right back. What I found strange was that I saw him running in circles and such, and when I asked him he said that he was moving his character.Originally Posted by GanondorfLeviathan
I guess this just further establishes that its not a normal DC issue.
Not totally unrelated, BRP. The backlog is due to a 300 person queue of people bitching about dead spots.
because my ISP recognizes the Mac Address, I can not do the clone mac address as it will not allow me to connect to the internet...
Can't go to Jeuno or Sea now, just soloing birds outside town unsure of what to do until SE at least give "solutions" if it isn't their fault
Just fyi but you can't change your MAC address as far as I know, that is the identification number of your physical computer component.
Like the VIN number on your car, it is a permanant number. I could be wrong though.
Just wanna confirm that directly connecting my modem > PC does absolutely nothing but move the dead zones to new areas, I cloned my NIC card MAC addy to my router just to confirm the same dead zones with the same IP. Some IP's wont even allow me past "Aquiring Player Data" some people that have found a "fix" may just not have found the new dead zone they have.
Same...changed Hall of Gods to South Sandy. Not even going to TRY Ru'Lude.Originally Posted by Hito
Unplugging my modem/router, plugging my ethernet directly into the modem, etc have all not worked for me (Using Linksys router and Shaw internet). Use playstation right now to play, so far my dead zones have been batallia downs, rolanberry, garlaige, and western altepa.
