Server Issues?

I dont know WHY it is, but it seems some people have one zone marked as a "dead zone" to them, and its different for each person.

This means that it is possible to escape the dead zone if you have someone else log onto your character and move them out for you...... This doesnt help people who want to BE in the zone thats fucked up for them, but if youre just passing through, its a possible solution.

And yes.. Meri works for me, but it didn't work for another poster...interesting. Though overall I think the problem is getting less severe for me overall, but still search is in the zeroes.

I was so excited about getting back on FFXI that I kicked my power cable with my foot and shutdown everything. I was able to get back on without a problem again, though.

When you hit the zone you cancel FFXI through any means and redo it back from POL, so alt-tab or something out. When you log in, your character will be positioned into the next zone for you.

I logged out earlier today to restart my computer and now I can't even get to the FFXI top page.

I sit at the top screen for about 5 minutes after clicking "Later" on the billing notice, then get the bottom screen.

Damn it to hell! I hit a dead zone that just happens to be Hall of the Gods. No sky and no byakko haidate for me! X_X Least Ro'Mauve is about to be empty of all mobs...

Some zones you can't d/c through....and that happens to be one of them.

It can't be an ISP/DNS-type issue. I couldn't use the outpost NPC because Port Windurst is an R0-zone for me, so I got my girlfriend (who's sitting right beside me on her laptop, which is connected through a switch to the exact same internet connection) to log on as me and outpost for me.

Worked for her, and not for me, internet connection is identical. So it seems to be certain characters/accounts unable to go in certain zones, possibly certain computers? Maybe I should try logging onto another account and going into my "dead" zones and see what happens.

Though seriously it is clearly not limited to provider.
As said just before, it varies from character to character. Clearly SE is messed up and it is not our faults at all. They won't wait to monday to fix this...unless they like hate emails!

I cant run thru the Zi'tah zone i r0 constantly,
on both of my characters (which are on seperate accounts & seperate credit cards if that matters)

one of my buddys called pol and they told him to open ffxi ports(which i have opened already) didnt seem to do anything either

Maybe its just luck, but my mule could handle what my main couldn't. I logged out of FFXI and I'm just going to wait this thing out. Though out of like 20 zones I checked on my characters and my attempt at getting to sky....its mostly non-ToA areas that are affected. Though I don't doubt machine might have something to do with it. PS2 and PC can't handle the zones for us.

Zilart and Origina and CoP seem to be affected, now I know shit for SE's server problems/conditions, but this is by far one of the most bizarre things to have happened since I started playing.

I found if you get on and run into a zone (SSG for me), while you'll DC it picked up me zoning and I was moved to Sea Serpent Grotto. Back online.


If you're in a dead zone log on and dead towards zone.

Buffalo -- Time-Warner (formerly adelphia aswell) I'm getting error code: FFXI-3113 Protocol time out error. I keep getting hung up at Acquiring player data and have been for 6 hours now. Well whatever the problem is I hope its fixed by tomorrow, I have a busy day planned and would like to atleast get on in the morning.

Possible? Could explain the issues and why a ls mate told me theres 2990 people on which is very high even for JP prime time.
