Is it bad that I have no idea who luca blight is? I played through 2 all the way to the last area but just quit and stoped playing, same with suikoden 3.Originally Posted by Elcura

I've done like.. at LEAST twenty Suikoden 2 playthroughs, it is single handedly the one game that I've played and beaten the most times.
The story is just so good, replaying it after like 2~4months is really enjoyable. I think one of the biggest factors is that the game is easily beatable within 20hours, which is required for one of the sidequests. You don't end up having to spend like 40+ hours replaying through everything, and you can re-finish it relatively quickly. (The game itself isn't 20hours long, your first playthrough will probably vary around 40 hours. Personally, without skipping any story text (what would be the point if you did that <.<) I can beat the game with all characters in about 18hours, but that's only cause I've memorized where everything is XD)
Ohhh, and one thing everyone has forgotten to mention, one of the things that I like about 2 more than the others... COOK OFF!!! omg I <333 that minigame XD it's so much fun lol, eventhough I usually end up repeating the same dishes <.<
EDITTT: Also forgot to mention, WAR BATTLES <3 I love taking my sweet time to wipe all enemy units while preventing the winning conditions that would otherwise end the battles, and trying to win battles you can't win lol. The war system itself is really good, wish they'd have more battles using it...

Were you playing the game in a language that you don't understand? How the fucking hell can you not know who Luca Blight is after playing through the game?
If you didn't play it in a different language, only reason I can see is that you skipped through the text, and you must have skipped through a SHITLOAD of text to not know even that, which pretty much ruins the best aspect of the game (the story)
Wow lol you must have not payed attention but it's hard to ignore his badassness.
"I'll spare your life if you oink like a pig!" ... "DIE pig!"
So ruthless.
It was in english, I just do not remember who it is, and yes I read the text. I'd go back and finish but I deleted rom.
that scene always gives me the chills;;
that's another thing about the story.. even after playing through it so many times it still does that to me <.< it's cause I like it so much
To the person who doesn't remember Luca:

(I'm gonna start posting that pic whenever people start blabing about kefka being the most badass villain <.<)
God damn.. my fanboyism is off the charts tonight >_>; gonna go sleep before half this topic ends up being posts by me
I own 1,3,4,5, tactics - I loved 5 - thought 3 was good. 1 is in the list for games to play. 4 is at the bottom mainly due to all the bad reviews from people I trust and tactics after that since they're linked.
I like the fact that the story revolves around the 108 stars of destiny and that most of the characters are interesting. The combination of regular rpg style fights, duels, and tactical battles also keeps things interesting. Lastly - I'm a sucker for a huge world with bits of continuity throughout yet different times, places, situations.
I never played Suikoden 4 due to the reviews, but all the others owned. I really enjoyed V, i remember when i played it i got the bad ending because i missed a few characters and i replayed the game after i beat it on a New game+ just for the good ending.

Zomg he's wearing Iron Musketeer Armor!
I started off with 2, then played 1 and replayed 2 just for McDohl, hi2umrimba, Souleater for bosses and double leader unite for everything else.
Then 3, 4, and now at the end of 4, lazy to finish it.
Timeline wise it's IV > Tactics > V > I > II > III.
Luca may be a fucking God but he still lost to the Bright Shield + Black Sword. Remember, the real hero of 2 is Jowy!
he didn't really lose to the black sword when it came to the actually fight, although jowy was a sneaky bastard (still gotta love him though).
spoilers
3, 6 man team ambushes, a fuckload of arrows and a beating from a kid (which you can easily still lose) took out luca
that guy wouldn't go down without a fight.

I was referring to Riou/Jowy when I said Bright Shield/Black Sword.Originally Posted by Elcura

I know that, I'm just saying that the runes themselves didn't play much part in the actual killing of Luca, blacksword never even got into a fight with Luca, even if jowy did, he would've lost. Riou and Jowy alone couldn't hope to have beaten Luca.Originally Posted by Syn
AMAZING series. Definitely some of my favorite games by far. I liked all the games I've played (haven't played 4 or tactics though).
In order of my likingness:
2 - Best story, most fun, most memorable. I can't think of a single thing I dislike about this game.
1- Great introduction to the series. <3 the songs too. Plus I almost cried in one part.
5 - Had more of a Suikoden feel to it than 3. Pretty good story, some characters kicked ass. Good music, fun to play.
3 - Good, but felt too much like a cartoon to me. Didn't like the battle system as much as the others, or the war system, or the tactician. Plus there were too many stupid animal type races.
luca is easy if you get and dont throw away the salamander runs from that ancient ruins place.

If you put Fire Sealing on someone like Humphey though, yeah if he was on your final party he'd be pretty much invincible. Although he's slow as hell, does crappy damage, and misses a lot <.<
