I picked GA Tech in that game, I picked all the 10 seeds in the first round![]()

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg
UNLV, Tech is a joke of a program, beats UNC and cannot win on the road. I hope Crittendon goes pro for having such an awful game.
Heh, glad I stuck with UNLV. Iwas gonna change my pick before the games started, but stuck with my gut. Wish I did that with the Butler/OD game and Indiana/Gonzaga =(
The Big 10 is now 5-1 after round 1, with the one loss being #12 seed Illinois losing to the #5 seed Virginia Tech by...2. Michigan State beat 8-seeded Marquette by 12, and Purdue beat 8-seeded Arizona by 9.Originally Posted by Roranora

ACC is 5-2. And 3 Big 10 teams have to play 1 or 2s next round. Let's count the tally in the round of 16 and see how we're doing.
Fact is, the Big 10+1 and Big 12 are very similar this year - a few great teams at the top (lol @ Wisky though), and the rest of the conference is shit. If you don't think Illinois, MSU or Indiana got help from their rep, you're crazy.
Not saying that your conference is shit, but the ACC is better. Hence why we dominate the challenge every... single... year. *yawn*
Big East in a down year and getting shafted by the selection commitee and they are still better than both of those conferences...Originally Posted by BarthelloSylph

Dook beat Big East's champion, soundly.
Sorry, you lose.
How many of your brackets were busted on day 1-2?
I was 13/16 on Thursday, but only 11/16 yesterday. My only Sweet 16 team out so far though is Duke.
I hate the "wanting my bracket to rock, but having to root for the underdog."
15/16 Sweet 16 and I'll be a happy camper. :D
And duke lost to marquette, a team that didn't do shit in the big east, what's your point? I don't think im saying anything groundbreaking when i say teams can play good on any given night, i think VCU proved that. Duke getting a 6 seed is a joke, Virginia getting a four seed is a joke. While the ACC is getting hyped up by the tournament commitee, and playing teams like, albany, VCU, Davidson, Illinois...Big east teams had to play a winthrop team that was vastly underrated (17 wins in a row or some shit and a fucking 11 seed?), Kentucky, Michigan State (Who has one of the best NCAA coaches ever). It's no surprise the ACC won the seeding lottery and the big east got fucked.
I went 15/16 Thursday and missed 3 more yesterday. Only Sweet 16 team I've lost is GA Tech. Thanks Paul Hewitt.
I got Winthrop and VCU though!
Its too bad the presidents over at the Big East are a bunch of morons. Granted, their basketball conference is decent, yes decent, but as an overall, its a HORRIBLE conference. Nothing like losing VA Tech and Miami to the ACC in football, a sport that more fans care about. The Big East is now nothing more than a stepping stone to a better conference for most schools.Originally Posted by Tyche
I agree, big east football is kinda lame, but it was pretty exciting last year. Probably will suck again this year, i don't see rutgers pulling out another miricle, and UL lost petrino.
And Pitt still dissapoints <.<![]()
You argue that the ACC gets preferential treatment, and I'm not actually arguing with that. Dook might have deserved a 6 seed - they had a great RPI and SOS, UVA definitely overrated without a doubt. I'm arguing with your assertion that the Big East is a better conference THIS YEAR, which I vehemently disagree with.

ACC 1, Big East 5
ACC 7 teams in (out of 12), BE 6 (out of 16)
I mean we're all entitled to our opinions, I don't see or hear many people saying that the BE is a better conference THIS year. It's a down year, it's ok - we had one last year - you'll be back next year. But it is no contest this year.
I said they were having a down year, i didn't say they were a better conference this year. I was implying that they were just a better basketball conference as a whole ever since they absorbed some of the better C-USA teams. But yea, big east has a tough road this year in the tourney, they got screwed. ACC got preferential treatment. Virginia wasn't even in the AP top 25 and they got a 4 seed. You know Duke was about 2-3 seeds too high. Maryland and UNC the only teams that deserved their slot.
Mine got messed up a bit. I'm 14/16 on my Sweet 16.
Sorry I interpreted this as thinking the BE was better than the ACC this year.Originally Posted by Tyche
As for overall, year in and year out, the BE became a lot better- I'll agree. I'd still say that the ACC is up there. Our rep definitely helps us. VA Tech wouldn't be getting these recruits if they weren't in the ACC. BC is also pretty good. Out of twelve teams, we still have UNC, Dook, Maryland, BC that are going to be good year in and year out, and up and comers in NC State, VT, UVA, FSU. Ga Tech is still pulling down good recruits, Clemson had a decent year. Wake and Miami are the only two teams really sucking it up. That's a pretty good conference top to bottom.
Big East has some real heavyweights up top but some real pussies down at the bottom (lolSFlorida, Rutgers, SJU, Cincy, Seton Hall). it balances out.
I look forward to East Coast dominance of College basketball for many years to come (fuck the PAC-10)
