I believe he's referring to the built in features of the latest Windows Media player, as well as the functionality of playing Blu-ray/HD-DVD media. Or he's referring to the specific MS DRM that prevents you copying the CD's, idk...

Here's a link about Vista's DRM getting cracked already though:

What the hell are you talking about? Would you like to actually explain why you think Vista imposes DRM on you before making completely uninformed statements?
    Read and be enlightened.

That "article" is a completely editorial blog (by a FUD-monger no less.)

HD-DVD and Blu-Ray standards bodies are composed of a number of technology and media companies. If a company wants to support these formats, they are required under license to play by the rules.

So you're saying that Vista is going to make your life miserable because they allow you to play HD-DVD and Blu-Ray media that was unsupported before? I guess if that's how you feel you'd be best off never buying an HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player, PS3, HD-DVR, or any device that supports HDMI or HDCP over DVI.

EL OH FUCKING EL. Do you know ANYTHING about what you're talking about? Christ, talk about uninformed. The #1 fucking complaint people have about Vista is the DRM. Are you living on Mars or something, how can you not know about the nazi-style DRM that Vista is imposing on you?

Guess what champ, some people can't even play LEGIT content on their Vista operating systems.

Go to google and search for "Key exchange for DVD copy protection". What you'll find is thousands of instances where people are being blocked from viewing legitimate content. Or go to google and just search for "vista drm". Here, I'll save you the trouble:

    Results 1 - 10 of about 11,200,000 for vista drm. (0.24 seconds

GTFO if you're trying to argue that vista doesn't impose nazi-esque DRM, you might as well be saying the sky is a mix of yellow, bright red, and fuscia.

I have no problems with vista, playes all my illegal and legal programs/music, plays ffxi great windowed and on a 2 monitor setup. Best decision i've made regaurding my pc in a long time. I only upgraded because i needed a legit windows and got it cheap, but it owns the xp i was using, seems faster too.

Div is of course correct, but like all things we don't like, we will all eventually just hack around it.

lol sorry for the spaz attack. But people telling me to get a clue when, in fact, I was the only that actually had one, is just one of those things...

Look, I'm no fan of DRM. But basically what your saying is that "DRM exists", and in order to bring the next generation of HD content to PCs, Microsoft is adhering to license agreements that they are legally bound to.

If you don't like what HD imposes, don't buy HD content.

Yes, I wouldn't doubt that some people are encountering bugs with any particular content.

No, most of the search results that you list were not relevant to the issue (and instead were more about breaking HD-DVD DRM.)

I've been using Vista for quite a while. I play FFXI on it, I have it set up as a Media Center PC, I watch DVDs on it, I listen to music on it, and I software development on it. It works perfectly for me doing all these tasks. I play my HD content on my Xbox and PS3, because I don't think PCs are really ready for it anyways.

I'm pretty sure this thread was about helping people who already have Vista installed getting FFXI up and running. If you want to fly into a rage instead of being helpful Div, well I guess that's just your issue. Take care.

Trust me, "boycott Vista" is probably the most helpful advice anyone can give. For more reasons than you can imagine.
