Plugging directly into modem seems to fix the problem, but then I get agro from the rest of the house

PC is using an Asus P4P800S motherboard with Intel 848P chipset, using onboard ethernet (Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC). Also using PS2 (model SCPH-50001) and having the same issues. Both are connected to a LinkSys BEFSR41 router with a D-Link DCM-201 cable modem. ISP is Time-Warner Cable, who bought out Adelphia in this area.

Known affected areas: Aht Urghan Whitegate, Wajaom Woodlands, Port Windurst, Passhow Marshlands, Batallia Downs, Western Altepa Desert, Kuftal Tunnel, Tavnazian Safehold, and Dragon's Aery.

Related information: Connecting PC directly to modem results in the POL top page to fail to load (friends list, messages, etc load, but it fails to receive menu information for navigation). Cloning my PC NIC MAC address to the router results in FF11 hanging at "Acquiring Player Data."

Found a solution though: Juno.com free dialup ISP, made an account and was able to get the update.

SE, fire your netadmin... 4 days is retarded for an issue this big to continue.
