I'm not agreeing with what the critics are saying, but I do see where they are comming from. I noticed that a couple times in the film, the king and queen say: "it is our duty as Spartans to fight for freedom, because freedom isnt free...blah blah etc etc."
To me this sounded overly American. I mean, replace "King" with "President" and "Sparta" with "USA" and you've got yourself a bona fide quote from good ol' G-Dub. It may not have been on purpose, but the similarities are deffinantley there.
Failing to understand their reasoning is more stupid than them accusing the movie of being racist. Atleast they've actually taken the time to watch the movie, while everyone here is like "NO UHOH PERSIA IS NOT IRAN SO THEREFORE UR WRONG!"
Stop being such fanboys and shutup lol.
Dear Iran,
If you want to be angry, don't be angry at 300. Instead pick up a copy of "Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again" and "All Star Batman and Robin". If that doesn't have people on the streets burning books, I don't know what will.
In conclusion, Frank Miller has been phoning it in for the last 20 years or so, and secretly hates Batman and by extension, all comic book fans.

It has nothing to do with being a fanboy, what this is about is people interpreting a movie to what they want to believe it's about. Hell looking at 300 now I can say it's not a movie about the US and persia. It's a movie about the fight against gays! I mean look at how the strong heterosexuals stand up and kill the tide of gays that crash against their shields. Or maybe it's a feminist movie because of how the Queen takes command and a filthy man betrays her. Or maybe it's a movie about how crippled people are viewed and how we dont care for them as part of our society.
And like Kael said, freedom isnt some concept we just came up with in America so we could fight us some wars.
