I came up with 292 being the most you could get on whitemage, but I may have missed a point or two somewhere. this is higher than a crappy redmage (276+af1 body = 291) but not as high as a mediocre rdm would be (you shouldn't have any issue getting to 300 on rdm)
even at the ~250 I'm at right now (I don't have the mitts yet) I'm finding it highly useful for salvage/assaults/limbus/dynamis (esp. salvage since we don't have a redmage who can attend regularly.)
edit: I did miss a few points, 298 is the best I can do
225 + 16merits + 15clericmitts + 12hqafbody + 7torque + 5nashiralegs + 5altruistic + 5mardukfeet + 5eliteberet+1 + 3enf.earring which is almost as good as a typical walmart rdm who hasn't done his enf. merits yet (or did elemental+summoning or something)

not like you can't store your AF, request af1/2/3 and drop the feet and legs. (or do what I did and upgrade the body)
