    CS Mamool Ja TG: Marids in the Mist

    Done with MNK/NIN, WAR/NIN and RDM/WHM.

    You appear next to an NPC at the south of the map. Speaking to the NPC gets you a Thunderguard Dart temp item. You can only hold one at a time, and each member can receive a dart.

    The map is littered with Mamools that you can avoid with invis, and in each of the four quarters of the map are 2 marids. They don't have much HP for Marids, and they can be grav'd and slept easily. Chigoes will spawn every marid TP move as usual. You don't want to kill the marids; rather, one of your members uses a dart to tranquilize your marid. Upon using a dart, you get one of 3 results:

    a.) There's no effect. "The marid appears unchanged."
    b.) The tranquilizer works. "You succeed in tranquilizing the marid!" When this happens, the marid turns into an NPC and vanishes.
    c.) The tranquilizer fails, and pisses off the marid. "The marid begins to charge!"

    After using darts, each person must return to the starting NPC to obtain another one.

    It seems that you can succeed with tranquilizers if the marid has lower HP. We weakened ours down to 30% before shooting them up with drugs, and that seemed to work. The few times it failed we just reduced to lower HP or just killed them (had to kill 2, we were low on time and didn't have any darts left). One marid got pissed and subsequent attempts to tranquilize were met with no effect. I'm not sure if it's possible to tranquilize them in this state... maybe just need to try several times or weaken more?

    This mission offered 1548 AP for first time bonus and band, 6 marids tranq'd and 2 killed.

    My static did this as a 4, we tried the tranquilizer way and caught a few but ended up running out of time so we just decided to kill them all instead, got very little points for it so catching them instead of killing raises AP alot. We had some tranquilizers work from the 90% mark, must just be luck but waiting till they are a bit weaker before using tranquilizer for a better chance at working would make sense

    Fought down to 25% and darted.

    We were 5 and went 8/8. Had 1 person running back and forth for darts.
    Using the other 4 people as extras when the 1 dart didn't take.

    1600 pts without band if I remember correctly.

    My group did this twice so far with 3 people: Mnk/Nin, Rdm/Blm, Brd/Whm.
    Strategy was: Monk grabbed the first marid and bard grabbed the 2nd marid and brought them to the dart NPC. Rdm sleeps 2nd marid, bard goes to grab next 2 marids. Bard basically does nonstop pulling, trying to link the marids so they come 2 at a time, because there's too much downtime from long pulls. Rdm uses darts when the marid is around 70% hp left, and it usually takes from 1-3, rarely more.
    Got junk appraisals, but a lot of points.

    Just did this and went 8/8, you can still tranquilize them after they go berserk. Three of ours went nuts but we got them anyway.

    We pulled them two at a time back to the start to spam darts.

    Just thought I'ld add that the Marids here do link. On our 2nd run last night we tried to pull the farthest 2 back to the beginning while the 2 closest were being fought and ended up with 5 marids attacking people.
