Done with MNK/NIN, WAR/NIN and RDM/WHM.
You appear next to an NPC at the south of the map. Speaking to the NPC gets you a Thunderguard Dart temp item. You can only hold one at a time, and each member can receive a dart.
The map is littered with Mamools that you can avoid with invis, and in each of the four quarters of the map are 2 marids. They don't have much HP for Marids, and they can be grav'd and slept easily. Chigoes will spawn every marid TP move as usual. You don't want to kill the marids; rather, one of your members uses a dart to tranquilize your marid. Upon using a dart, you get one of 3 results:
a.) There's no effect. "The marid appears unchanged."
b.) The tranquilizer works. "You succeed in tranquilizing the marid!" When this happens, the marid turns into an NPC and vanishes.
c.) The tranquilizer fails, and pisses off the marid. "The marid begins to charge!"
After using darts, each person must return to the starting NPC to obtain another one.
It seems that you can succeed with tranquilizers if the marid has lower HP. We weakened ours down to 30% before shooting them up with drugs, and that seemed to work. The few times it failed we just reduced to lower HP or just killed them (had to kill 2, we were low on time and didn't have any darts left). One marid got pissed and subsequent attempts to tranquilize were met with no effect. I'm not sure if it's possible to tranquilize them in this state... maybe just need to try several times or weaken more?
This mission offered 1548 AP for first time bonus and band, 6 marids tranq'd and 2 killed.
