Why? 10chr is 10chr? if you mean for -3emn, meh. Sure if I had mahatma maybe, but I don't.

HAY GUYS I'M SINGING IN OSODE WHY IS TIAMAT HITTING ME?!?!?!shift-one

I do preach errant > osode to my linkshell. I will never lot for an osode for my BRD, because it's worthless. I use Errant for endurance fights (-enmity is king) and AF+1 for my CHR+10 body otherwise. The only god gear I have any desire to get is Seiryu's Kote and Genbu's Kabuto... for Spirits Within gear. Whooptie-friggin'-do.

In any case, is there even such a thing as an "good" BRD? I can't recall ever running into one that actually had a clue about effectively using gear. WUT IS GEAR SWAP??!!

Haidate on brd is hardly fail.

This may sound rather elitist but /shrug.

I use a haste/fast cast setup on BRD for pulling and utsusemi in merit parties and I absolutely love it. Granted you can pull with almost any song but the ideal song is elegy for most situations. It's also one of the songs that's the least resisted, for whatever reason. Never underestimate the importance of being able to out pull your opponents to completely dominate a zone for mobs and xp.

That being said, I don't wear them for anything else. AF2 legs for things like Dynamis/limbus where you typically go BRD/WHM and help a lot with support cures. Mahatma for HNMs where the -enmity is needed. AF+1 pants for a wind skill build.

It's fail when it's compared to what other jobs gain from them vs what a BRD gains. I think it's a waste to give them to a BRD over a WAR, NIN, or other melee because BRD has a lot of better options for most situations.

It was just a general statement that I needed to get out, not necessarily directed to anyone.

...and I read that as you saying you would, but I guess I was wrong. >.>

Honestly in our shell haidate are given out on the basis of who put forth the most effort to get them. Once upon a time we did sky every day and triggers would always be up and then entire linkshell would come and help out. Then we had a very strict priority for haidate order. Then came the days of RMT and everysinglenewnaiwannabeahnmls. People were sick of doing sky and wanted to do other things. Sky was getting crowded.

Most people in linkshells are really apathetic about organizing things if a leader doesn't directly say to. So some people who wanted sky gear, including myself took it upon themselves to organize small trigger runs. If all things are equal in effort, than of course a NIN or melee job will get them over a BRD. However if the NINs and melees didn't do anything to help get the triggers and the BRD organized and ran the trigger runs to be able to fight Byakko in the first place, the BRD will get them. Some may disagree but we feel very strongly that effort should be rewarded over someone who slacks and thinks they should get something because they have the "ideal" job for it.

But without a decent CHR build, your Elegy will be full of fail and the slow% will suck.
Elegy slow is constant no matter how much charisma you have, I thought. Just need enough charisma/skill to land it.

Are you sure Elegy is a flat 50%? Why the hell is Square so gay with BRD spells? I've always treated it the same as Slow, but with my CHR vs. mob's CHR; and skill for landing. I don't really have any way to test it other than what it "feels" like versus mobs.

    Then my apologies for misinformation.

    Yep, 50%, increased 1% with +elegy gear.
    Hojo is flat 18%
and I think RDM can get up to 22% with slow I with enough MND? I haven't played RDM in forever so no idea what slow II is like

With just AF2 hat, AF2+1 hands that are on anytime I'm not actively casting a debuff, and Tamas Ring for -enm I've never pulled hate at a wyrm unless purposefully being a dick and tossing out Mazurkas. Macroing between Dalm and Osode is only a loss of 20MP which comes back fairly quickly after putting Dalm back on. So when I'm not pulling hate as it is why should I sacrifice both MP and e-peen (circa 2005) for errant?

Because you should be tossing Curagas and helping with Cures.

I do, quite often in fact (not hard to do with 450MP+Dalm). Maybe your LS needs better tanks.

I can think of a couple of uses for haidate for brd...
One actual use for Haidate for bard is prelude recast in RNG party at Kirin....we used to use lots of RNGs at kirin....meat + 2 brds (preludex2, min x2 )
And another use is BRD/NIN? lol pulling in EXP...nice defense + haste is always good for Utsusemi....
Pre cock block days it wasn't uncommon for bards in my shell to get haidate....but now....got such a long list of deserving melee who need them that bards gonna have to wait long time lol

Although I guess if a BRD is pulling/sleeping shit god gear could be helpful for defense and some of the HP increases?
Id imagine a bard macroing in some god gear +earth staff and eating tacos would take damage fairly well...

Those are 3 real uses I can think of for haidate for a bard...
but obviously melees first :O and above all DESERVING people first

Please explain to me what the hell the difference is between using an Errant Hpl. for "endurance fights (-enmity is king)" and using AF+1 body for everything that's not an endurance fight.

A refresher for those who are confused:
    http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/images/...ouppelande.jpg http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/images/0/02/CJ-1.PNG

So what benefit do you have over using one for some fights and not the others? Other than maybe keeping the Errant for a stoneskin macro...

I've been tooling with my -enmity set quite a bit, swapping pieces in and out and trying different pieces to see how effective they are. My average set-up is about -26 enmity (iirc, I don't have my gear in front of me to calculate atm), with -23 when casting buff songs because I swap out AF+1 for my manteel to cast songs, as I'm usually in the tank party and trying not to get eaten by AoE or something.

Am I the only person here who wears AF+1 body for HNMs on BRD?
::edit:: bardlet snuck in and beat me to it!
People seem to be stuck with this osode vs. dalma vs. errant thing.

That being said, I think in the end Marduk will be the best body for BRD.

I'm in the fortunate position that I have a lot of -enmity gear from my WHM that I can swap in to BRD if needed.
