between convert 25 hp to 25 mp
as oppose to -25 hp +25 mp.
Convert requires MP, while the other is only a penalty.

For example, someone with 0 MP would gain 0 HP from convert, but would get 25 HP still on the other.

    yep

lets say you're weakened and have 1 hp

    convert hp>mp will do nothing

-hp and +mp will give you +mp

They also function differently for determining your yellow HP/blood agro threshold and for activating low HP latent effects on gear. I don't know the precise details, but I think it's that "Convert HP to MP" gear does NOT reduce your maximum HP for the purposes of calculating these figures.

Um. Yellow HP is 74.9% or less of your max HP. The two item types don't make any difference, and there's no "trick" or "details" to it. Orange is 49.9% or less, and red is 24.9% or less.

Converts HP to MP doesn't affect blood aggro at all that I've noticed. (I use a Sorceror's Ring on a regular basis, but my HP stays white because of Zenith Mitts..)

You are slightly incorrect Loren. For Sorcerer's ring or other "yellow" HP latents to work, you DO NOT need to actually be yellow. The calculation is made prior to convert HP > MP gear is figured in. Ex. I have 1000 HP - 50 HP from Zenith Mitts. 749 HP or lower will activate ring latent even thought it will not show yellow because after zenith mitts put on max HP is 950. If you have Zenith Mitts and still making your HP to yellow to activate latent then you are overdoing it and can remove some of your low HP set.

They don't really change the HP% that becomes yellow.

false, latents trigger on % of your current max hp. If you had 800hp while naked, and then put on Z.Mitts your Max hp is 750hp, you'd need 74.9% of 750hp, and not 800hp, hence yellow hp.

Did you even think to double-check before posting something so blatantly wrong?

The way I understood it, was that rostrum pumps decrease the HP amount you need to find 75% of, and that zenith doesn't.

Ninja edit: That fucking sorcerer's ring, what a stupid ring it is. I hate that ring. I picked taru so I could make huge booms, and I don't have enough hp to make it viable to use that ring fulltime, so these stinking humes and elvaans can equip it 24/7 and compete whilst being shitty players.

You do not need yellow HP for latent to work.

Actually it used to be the only piece of gear I was proud to have. One of the most famous JP crafter and player (still is) Tak crafted it for me for free. At the time normal helm was crazy expensive, and the +1 was even more outrageous, so I farmed mats and he synthed it for me, and let me keep it for free :O! He did however threaten me in broken english if I sold it >.> Back then it was like omfg+1, now its 500k and he didnt sign it so its like D:

Actually I think Sorc. Ring is the only one in the series that treats convert equip this way. WHM one doesn not, don't think BRD one does either.

Parade Gorget and Uggalepih Pendant are the only two that people have done comprehensive tests for, and both work the same. Visible gear that gives HP+/- or MP+/-, respectively matters, stuff like rings and back and waist do not, nor does convert HP>MP or MP>HP gear. I'd imagine the 50 latent rings work the same, but I can at least guarantee that in the case of sorcerer's ring and zenith mitts, mitts don't factor into your max HP.

WTF @ Kross and Dammerung, go test it yourself. Mine works at 78% of my current max HP because I am using Zenith Mitts.
Unequip the Mitts and I'm at 73%, since it is 73% of my Max HP it works.
