I didn't know anything about a third until the end of the second, how did everyone else know about a third before seeing the movie?

They announced them together. Two sequels for PotC.Originally Posted by Swampthing

But i think the 2nd movie was kool :D
It was only "bad" because we were expecting more... to someone who's never seen the first(my cousins that went with me) it was an awesome movie... but to people who have seen the first it was mediocre >.>
I agree that the second one was a disappointment in comparison to how awesome the first one was. I know what they win by it being more Disney-fied. It just felt more silly and childish than the first one. I still enjoyed it and all, but was hoping for something more.
Quick question in regards to the end of the second one. I think it was awesome how Barbossa showed up at the end, but I never understood how that happened. Did he sell his soul to Davey Jones or something? Anyone with some insight on this please do tell.
And yea, holy shit this looks awesome. Chow Yun Fat ftmfw.

The reason why I hated the second movie so much wasn't the ending, but the action sequences mostly. They were incredibly cheesy and overdone.
I mean, in one scene you have jack bouncing around on a stick thats tied to his back, and oh yeah, random pieces of fruit are involved too. What the fuck.
Then you have people rolling down a hill in hamster balls.
Then later you have people rolling down a hill again, this time in a wheel, while sword fighting. At that point, I was tempted to get up and walk out of the theater.
Funny enough, I found all those scenes pretty awesome, especially the fruit one. The wheel one was an awesome swashbuckler fight.
Awe, that sucks for me that I missed that announcement, or I might have been able to enjoy it better knowing how it would end, going into it.Originally Posted by BRP

I actually enjoyed #2 quite a bit.
Thats fine if you like that kind of thing, I personally just think its cheesy.
I guess what irritates me about it is the fact that the first movie was not like that. The actions sequences in the first movie were grandiose, of course, but they were at least a tiny believable. It felt like I was watching something that could theoretically happen, even if that notion was a false one.
The second movie for me pushed the envelope way past that point, and I lost any and all illusion that what was happening on screen was actually possible. At that point I have a hard time taking it seriously anymore. I guess you could say that I was hoping for something more similar to the first movie, and what we got was a cheesy pirates version of the matrix.
Like I said, if you're into that kind of thing, awesome.
I think the chees may have bee the point >.>lol, so true.

Because well those fights were pretty funny especially the "kabob" one
But i do agree with you on the wheel fight... it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long ><
page 2 get :D
Loved PotC2 but i think they should have cut the ending when jack gets eating by the monster.
It might have made more people mad, but it would have left a better "Holy fucking moses, I need to find out what happens!"
put yea Whooo for the third one.
I had the same opinion as most of you about the action scenes and the end the first time I watched it. But then I watched it a couple more times out of boredom and found myself enjoying it all more each time. Then I watched the version with the writers talking over the movie and learned there's so much depth and hidden references (especially in regards to the East India Trading company and the compass and what/when it's pointing to) there that really is that is missed the first time you watch it. After watching it again a couple times my opinion has changed and I firmly believe it is just about on par with the first one. I really can't wait for the third.
I loved the first one, thought the second one was alright at best
This one looks pretty good from the trailer but I'm not getting my hopes up, will probably just end up waiting until it comes out on dvd to see it, I've payed to see enough bad movies the past couple months
Epical I don't have a time-machine. You're thinking of Daahan.
Did anyone stick till the end of teh credits of POTC: #2?
They showed a clip of what happened to the dog that was left behind, on the man-eating island.... the dog became there king ROFL!, and you know what they do to the kings... BBQ-Doggy side order coming up!
See, what I think the problem is with PotC2 is that when they released it, they knew a third was coming out. So when people saw it in the theaters, they were like"wtf this isn't that great." However, even though #3 is a sequel, you'd have to look at both movies as one. If you put them both together, I'm sure that they make one superawesomepiraty movie.
How does knowing a sequel is coming out for the movie you are watching instantly turn it into shit?
Look at the Matrix series
People knew 2 sequels were gonna be coming out
Reloaded didn't bring in the crowds, and Revolution got butt-hurt by it
that preview kicked ass.
I can't wait.
I still vote Davey Jones one of the best bad guys ever.
