    Guild Points

I'm just wondering what people have for a rule-of-thumb for GP. A couple rules people I know have made, and a few I consider.

Do you have a Gil/GP ratio you go by?

Does it differ whenever you're working toward a key item/support item?

Do you not bother if it's under X level of possible to earn?

Has your thought process changed at all as you became a higher level crafter?

I think you need to look at your own guild to see what realistically the best ratio you can get is. For my CC GP binge it was 4:1. I never did stupid low point items and would usually buy the item from the AH since that was usually cheaper. Now that I'm 90+ CC with all the guild items I wanted (I don't think I really need Fletching... still no Cloth Purification or Cloth Ensorcellment but those don't look like money makers) I don't care about collecting GP as much .

I usually don't mess with the lower level point items (unless I really need points for a HQ crystal or something like that) and I stick with the less expensive, higher point yielding stuff: Like, for me and clothcraft, i'll turn in items for points where I get full available poitns for 1-2 items, sometimes when it requires up to 4, but usually jsut the 1-2 item options. I like getting 3K points or more per item. Usually I synth my own stuff, unless there are some on AH for cheaper than cost to synth. If you have all your subs leveled, usually its cheaper to make it from scratch, even the sub materials (ie mythril sheets - 4xore>ingot>sheet = like 4K, but AH sheet is like 9-10K)

    1. When i was doing Smithing GP, I considered 3:1 a good deal, and there were a fair number of items like that. Doing CC/Gold, it went to 7:1 and 10:1 iirc, since the NPC-value of their items seem to be much poorer.

    2. I was a bit more lenient on ratios when I was working towards anvil as well as gold glasses

    3. Sometimes when making stuff for GP if it's really low, the HQ may be worth a little bit. Obviously, it won't be enormous profit, but it's usually better to sell them than turning the HQs in for the extra 10 GP.

    4. Not significantly. I have more money to throw around now, so when I was getting GP for my subs I was a bit more impatient than previously, but that's about it.

I do it based more on how much of a pain something is to get.

Bloodstones in bonecraft is a good example of something that I won't do b/c it's just too time consuming, even if you've got a friend in kazham buying them from the NPC and running back and forth to the delivery guy.

Having done cooking and bonecraft and currenty working on alchemy. Bonecraft have a lot of synths for Guild points that take a decent number, but you HQ enough that you can ussually profit off your guild points. Cooking has a lot of things that cost very little but involve a large number of synths or have things that are so rare to be non-existant. Alchemy has a lot of high-value/low-synth guild points that cost a decent amount of gil to acquire (and I'm very grateful that I have 60 smithing and goldsmithing on another character already).

For me, not having the +skill items or profitable key items means I'm loosing money, so if it's possible to do guild points on a given day I'll do them (sometimes RL/in-game commitments get in the way, or some material simply doesn't exist).

This is good to hear, because Bonecraft is my drug--er, craft of choice. Often I'm looking at 3-6 items to turn in. Only now at 68 do I start to see those HQs on GP.

My subcrafts are still low though, I need to get on that .

Well before I get your hopes up too much, I don't know what the bonecraft guild points are like now-a-days. It's been well over a year since I did any.

I managed 10:1 during inflation, these days something like a Mythril Pick will get you 3:1 or so.
