    Im under the impression that TH adds the chance for more items to drop, thus increasing the lootpool. Thats why when we have TH4 in we see 4 currency drops occasionally, TH3 is 3 currency for the most. I want to believe in TH, I really do, but so far our Galka Paladin saying "you betta fuckin drop mah shit" has worked out better than our shark bites.

    luck factor is the number one factor for drops.
    Do you understand the relationship between "% chance of drop", "luck", and "different results for each people"? Your quote above is probably the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

    TH4, for me at least, seems to only affect common type drops. A prime example of this would be duoing enkidus, with TH4 a mythril ore drops about 90% of the time, but rarely with no TH at all.

    My way of understanding TH is it lowers a level range.
    Say your level 1 and you kill a bunny you can get hide easily

    75 killing a level 1 bunny speed farm lowers your chance, I've just always felt th lowers the level range in which you can get common/uncommon drops
    never seen much of a effect on abjs and stuff

    Same here. I've found TH enhancement, and TH in general, to effect things that could drop for anyone. Crawlers, for instance. With THF knife or just plain THF LV45+, I saw more sticky threads drop as opposed to not being THF. Another is Big Birds in the coast. I saw more Giant Plumes with the thf knife as opposed to being another job. But at the same time, a job w/o TH in it would see the drops as well, just not nearly as often.

    Megalobugard is another good example. I've killed him 50+ times with the knife and have gotten 3 tusks. I killed Sozu twice (w/o knife, once as THF, another time as NIN/WAR) and got 2 THF knifes. Thats just luck/right place right time, imo.

    Banking on TH in situations like those two aforementioned NMs isn't entirely worth it, imo. Probably helps, but it helps on other things more noticeably.

    I've gotten 4 currency drops from a mob in Dynamis as the only thief in the zone and I've never had more than TH2.

    I agree that luck is the top factor in drops, but I do believe TH1/2 traits do add up to a fair amount, not a huge fan of the TH+1 items. Usually items don't increase the trait/ability by a whole lot.

    I doubt it is affected by Lv range. A 75thf could fill up 3 people's inventory with Yag necklaces in Giddeus in probably 45 mins, tops. But I think that is because the % chance they have of dropping x-item is pretty high. Like NMs that drop abjurations. Rarely you wont get one, most times at least one will drop. Pretty sure its based on drop rate % and not lvl.

    Abjurations are a fixed drop rate, ~75% single-drop, ~25% double drop, and one of Kirin's abjurations is "none".

    Anyone have a link to the data that proved it was 1%? I'd kind of like that to be retested since the data has been MIA for a while and I really don't think it was tested thoroughly (since a 1% change would be pretty damn hard to measeure and would require a MASSIVE amount of trials to prove conclusively).

    Lol, that's so sad but true. Last Salvage run we did was Arrapago and Ruke and I decided it would be fun to try and sweet talk mobs into dropping he produced 0 drops I was 4/5. Galka talking to mobs = true TH?

    I think Divisortheory did some tests with the THF knife. And yea, he came to 1% conclusions, from what I remember. Could be off a little.

    It hasn't been MIA ;p I'm assuming you mean the one Kalia did in 2005. You can read the results here, but he didn't list all the actual data, only the summaries.

    http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html ... =89;page=1

    And 1% is a pretty big difference on a rare drop. An item with a 1% drop rate is 1/100; adding 1% makes it 1/50. Not a big difference on a really common drop though.

    Ah, thank you.

    Yeah looks like it needs more testing, he even admits in that post that it does.
    I'd like to see:
    -tests on a different mob
    -focus on number of drops per kill (total rather than individual)
    -proper statistical anylysis of the data (rather than just an observed %)

    And maybe some other stuff that I can't think of now.

    This is an incomplete version of the spreadsheet, I had one with about twice as many overall kills, but I haven't been able to find it.

    Yeah, so moral of the story regarding TH is:

    If you want more beehive chips, hides, and crap like that, TH won't make a noticible difference. But if you want more ridills and d.rings, TH may nearly double the drop rate.

    p(pixie) + p(ring) = 1 and p(pixie + ring) = 0, so I doubt TH improves the ring drop rate at all.

    Doing this alone is a lot of work. But if you guys test it with a few ppl and add results to the other one you get, it can be fairly easy to get accurate info. A few ppl could be assigned with different tasks, and you complile all the results.

    To add to this, TH is thought to increase the average quantity of items you get in your pool when you kill a mob. But we all know treasure pools work in complicated ways, with certain items being in "slots" that can be occupied by either common drops or rare drops. In that case it won't help you get the rare version. It basically only makes the difference between a given slot receiving nothing, or something. You're still at the mercy of the gods for it to be what you want.

    Average drops per kill (total drops) from Divisor's data:
    TH2 = .2833
    TH3 = .3158
    TH4 = .3689

    Interesting.
