Impressive is probably the best way to call his solo Seriyu. However, I hate the guy for harshly dragging down the price of Ancient Beastcoins. He's perpetually got 20+ in his bazaar for about 3 to 5k less than everyone else.

I think that cactrot rapido solo was more impressive.

Many many people have soloed Cactrot. As far as I know, Avesta is the first/only to solo Seiryu.

"Many many people" hmmm, you mean some rdm's have soloed it but not many many, i like Avesta because he can keep focus for a lot of hours as well as other rdm's that solo stuff, Avesta soloed too Fire Bomblet NM, and you dont need expensive or hard to get armor to solo NM's, a rdm in my server Gilgamesh soloed VV and he was using vermy and SH, he didnt have dalmatica, relic body or hat, i have to look where is posted that video.

And we dont know if another rdm have solo seiryu, Avesta is the "first one" that we see a video of doing it.

this is an interesting debate going on here... I really feel debating the merits of this accomplishment is pointless because everyone makes valid points.

first of all I applaud Avesta for this solo (and I think if Avesta was a regular at these forums, the negative attitude towards his accomplishments would be way down)

however, I do agree that the fight itself is unimpressive in terms of skill. I think many good RDMs can do this fight, but it will take many attempts to really get it down.

I also want to point out that this game rarely requires "skill" that other games require, but simply knowledge and patience for almost any accomplishment. There are rarely any dynamic situations in FFXI vs some PVP for example, so in effect this game should be graded on knowledge and execution (for which Avesta gets an A+)

Not to say this game doesn't have moments where skill comes in though, such as pressure situations in HNM alliances where 2 support jobs work in tandem to pull a team from almost sure wipe to regain control, making up for other people's mistakes by being quick on the trigger with anticipation/reaction. Unfortunately, this kind of stuff is almost never captured on video, and most people who receive the benefits of these skills might not even be aware of what happened.

Even though the solos are not technically difficult to execute and sometimes even boring, it is pretty clear to me that Avesta has the mental makeup of a very skilled player who can operate in any situation, and this is also recognized by those who praise him.

Thus, the conflict of this thread comes in when people are praising a very skilled player, while others are downplaying the accomplishment itself, thinking people are kissing ass over the accomplishment rather than giving props to someone they recognize as a great player.

So, I think this Avesta debate really doesn't work, because both sides are right. Yes, he's probably an extremely skilled player, and yes that solo was boring.

Us solo RDMs really suck at refreshing like a party of BLMs or something. Really, really bad. lol
